It's kind of ironic that the war supporters have to contend with a possible immigration problem of their own making. Serves them right. (Then again, perhap they'll come up with a rationale to shirk responsibility?)
WASHINGTON -- Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis who have fled their homeland are likely to seek refugee status in the United States, humanitarian groups said, putting intense pressure on the Bush administration to reexamine a policy that authorizes only 500 Iraqis to be resettled here next year.
The official US policy has been that the refugee situation is temporary and that most of the estimated 1.5 million who have fled to Jordan, Syria, and elsewhere will eventually return to Iraq. But US and international officials now acknowledge that the instability in Iraq has made it too dangerous for many refugees, especially Iraqi Christians, to return any time soon.
Ellen Sauerbrey, assistant secretary of state for refugees and migration, said that while the Bush administration does not think resettlement is needed for most refugees, its policy could rapidly change.
"It is quite possible that we will in time decide that because of vulnerabilities of certain populations that resettlement is the right option," Sauerbrey said. While acknowledging that the administration originally set a quota of no more than 500 Iraqi refugees, she said the president has the legal authority to admit 20,000 additional refugees.

The democrats wanted to go to war, we went to war, the democrats all agreed "Saddam had to go" Saddam is gone, now the Bush Haters want a miracle they want all the savages in Iraq to hug and kiss, they want all the women to take their veils off and start being "unwed mothers" like in America, they expect "Instant Peace" they want "Looney Liberalism" to sweep through Iraq, they want "free condoms" handed out, they want "Britney Spears Concerts" for the Muslims, can you imagine Britney Spears having her picture taken in Iraq wearing no underwear and showing the camera's her "crotch" (they would carve her up alive with their steak knives).
We tried to help them, it didn't work, we should now bring the troops home today, Bush should just coast through his next two years, we should let Pelosi and her little "Gang Of Grinners" handle the Muslims.
Harry Boy (Genius)
In The Absence Of Law And Order Society Will Surely Destroy Itself
Many Democrats did back the President, Harry, that's true, but not the liberal ones. The liberal ones maintained from the start that the war was a bad idea, and, remember, most Iraqis, like most Americans, want to have nothing to do with politics. They are merely victims of this crazy war.
Try Bush on war crimes. He is responsible for tens of thousands of deaths of innocent people, for the destruction of a nation, for creating a severe refugee crisis in the Middle East, for turning countries against us and thus jeopardizing our security. Bush is an international criminal. His crimes of violence against Iraq are as bad as those committed by Osama bin Laden's.
