When Bush first got elected, he met a lot of international criticism for largely disbanding the U.S. role in the Middle East peace process. As a result, what we now have is the sad sight of president humiliating himself as he try to finds a role. He had no role in the Hezbelloh-Israel conflict. The Saudi King would only hold a relatively brief meeting with Cheney. The head of Iraq didn't want to have dinner with Bush.
