Default The Attack on Christmas Continues

It's funny how Christ being removed from CHRISTmas is considered by some as not being an attack of sorts. I like how the lady put it when using Lincoln's birthday as an example. Where I come from, 2 + 2 tends to equal 4.

'Nativity' Booted From Ill. Holiday Fair

By DON BABWIN

(AP) A nativity scene set up by a private group as part of a Christmas festival is seen Monday, Nov. 27,...

CHICAGO (AP) - A public Christmas festival is no place for the Christmas story, the city says. Officials have asked organizers of a downtown Christmas festival, the German Christkindlmarket, to reconsider using a movie studio as a sponsor because it is worried ads for its film "The Nativity Story" might offend non-Christians.

New Line Cinema, which said it was dropped, had planned to play a loop of the new film on televisions at the event. The decision had both the studio and a prominent Christian group shaking their heads.

"The last time I checked, the first six letters of Christmas still spell out Christ," said Paul Braoudakis, spokesman for the Barrington, Ill.-based Willow Creek Association, a group of more than 11,000 churches of various denominations. "It's tantamount to celebrating Lincoln's birthday without talking about Abraham Lincoln."

Read the whole article, and it's easier to see where the city is coming from. Obviously, it's a sort of multi-faith event, and they wanted to discourage one religion from upstaging another so they made a suggestion. You are objecting to a suggestion that the German church group apparently found reasonable.

"'The city does not want to appear to endorse one religion over another,' said Cindy Gatziolis, a spokeswoman for the Mayor's Office of Special Events. She acknowledged there is a nativity scene, but also said there will be representations of other faiths, including a Jewish menorah, all put up by private groups. She stressed that the city did not order organizers to drop the studio as a sponsor.

"'Our guidance was that this very prominently placed advertisement would not only be insensitive to the many people of different faiths who come to enjoy the market for its food and unique gifts, but also it would be contrary to acceptable advertising standards suggested to the many festivals holding events on Daley Plaza,' Jim Law, executive director of the office, said in a statement."

This is just another example as to why Republicans lost big a few weeks ago. They are more concerned with the "War on Christmas" than the War in Iraq.

And Dims are more concerned with waging war against Christmas than against terrorists.

That might be the dumbest thing ever written in here.

Incase you missed it, this was the headline to the thread:

Re: The Attack on Christmas Continues

Repubs lost because they were incompitent. Last I checked CHRISTmas wasn't in any of the exit polls.

Republicans were blown out because they pandered to their base while alienating the moderate majority. They spent too much time focusing on how to retain their power and appease people who actually believe their is such a thing as a "War on Christmas." Fixing the nation's real problems could've done the trick, but thankfully they ****ed up.

Do you and I live in the same country? Oh wait, you must be a bleeding heart party stooge. I know what party you wear the blinders for, not that it matters when we're talking to sheeple. Anyhow....

The repubs lost because they alienated their base. Remember, the GOP used to be about fiscal sanity & small government. Instead, they moved to the extreme right, thus expanding the reach of the police state, and spending taxpayer money is ways no liberal could dream. Furthermore, they totally mismanaged post war Iraq, and pissed on their base by having multiple members of their party epunged over corruption & ethics. That's not pandering to their base, that's pissing on them. Of course, someone as blinded as you, probably thinks that GW is a traditional republican. Sure, and John Kerry is a traditional Democrat.

Anyhow, the war on christmas is obvious to those of us who aren't wearing blinders.

So how bloody have the "War on Christmas'" battlefields been? How many casualties have you seen? Maybe when my town hold its first ever Christmas parade this year a Jew is going to gun down Santa.

I hope your party and your cable news station continues to promote this war as it only shows to the public how delusional certain ideologies can be.
