Rules of the Political Forum - New England Patriots Forums

The forum is best when it has a variety of points of views expressed in different ways, but have a sense of humor and keep the discussions inclusive so that others feel comfortable joining in, even people new to the forum.

In addition to the following rules, any rules of Patsfans.Com are also applicable. The following rules were developed by forum participants as way to make the forum appropriate to all members of Patsfans.Com. If you believe a rule should be modified or eliminated, feel free to initiate a discussion about the rule.

RULES

No personal attacks. You cannot call someone who participates in this forum an idiot, a terrorist, a Nazi, and so on.

No attacks that stereotype all people of a race, ethnicity, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, or who are serving in the US military. For example, if Widgets were a race, it would be against the rules to call all Widgets ugly, selfish, or cheap.

No threats. The quickest path to being suspended or even expelled from the website is to threaten someone.

No posting of inappropriate content. Spam, porn, images designed to offend a person or group, personal information (such as a member's phone number) about individuals other than yourself, and other content that is deemed by the moderators as offensive is not allowed.

Each user may initiate up to four new threads a day. If you initiate more than four, the additional ones will be deleted.

When quoting, you may only copy up to four sentences from the source, and you must include a working URL or the source of the quotes. In other words, help patsfans.com avoid copyright infringement.

PENALTIES

The moderators have the right to issue warnings, delete posts, close threads, suspend individuals from the site, and if necessary expel someone from the forum. You can appeal a moderator's decision to the other moderator.

Moderators will assign infractions to anyone who repeatedly violate the rules. The occasional rule violation will continue to be overlooked unless it is an egregious one. In general, 5 infractions over a 10 day period = suspension, 20 = banning.

Threads complaining about the infractions will be deleted, but people are free to post their complaints in this thread.

The moderators will do their best to consult each other before issuing an infraction that suspends or bans someone.

The current moderators are FreeTedWilliams and Patters.

I'd suggest adding: one person per account and one account per person.

What does it matter Patters? You're like the UN, you can come up with new rules and stuff all you want. It doesnt amount to a hill of beans considering you cannot or will not enforce the ones you already have.

Say whatever you want as long as I (Patters) agree with it, or its akin to DNC protocal. Everything else is prohibited.

This is hilarious. Right now there is a racist whore thread that you let get over 3 pages? What do these rules mean? Not a darn thing. You cannot enforce a blasted thing.

There shall be no rule to circumvent any rule that rules against 1 poster who is decidedly different from another poster.

If the rule itself cannot distinguish why 1 human is correct and the other human is wrong then no human shall edit the rule or in any way reshape or reword such rule.

The rule itself cannot be binding in all legal jurisdictions because one never knows where the electronic code for such a rule may be at any 1 time.

All rules shall be constructed so as to be quite obvious to all people of average intelligence .... since we do not know what average intelligence is when discussing politics we have a problem and we shall not construct a supreme court of the forum because it is impossible to do so in the time space constrictions of the internet pipelines.

Lastly I'd like to say that any rules here can only be 50% correct because males only compromise @50% of the world. There are no women here to argue against the rules and because most woman are right most of the time perhaps men only account for 30% of correct logic and if that said logic is missing then the rules themselves cannot say that they passed any litmus test of any rational and equal time... in other words we haven't a clue WTF we are talking about.

In other words ... all rules are invalid ....

gotta tell ya, i'll eliminate the vitriol on a personal level if any of the righties here ever do... but it's time that the stated forum rules become enforced, else they mean nothing...

just my two cents: but, you have the power to hand down 12-, 24-, 48-hour, week-, month-long suspensions, no? assign an active righty moderator as well if people are concerned about mod bias... someone like RW, while sometimes low brow, seems level-headed enough to balance things out...

this forum badly needs a cleansing, as derrogatory comments about sexuality, manhood, family members, racism and religious zealotry are rampant and blatant violations of the stated rules here... locking down a thread does nothing... giving people some time off, that gets their attention...

just a thought... not a demand...
