patsfan13, why do you keep giving a free pass to Crane, Livingstone, and Harding (the Teapot Dome scandal)? You're trying to compare past events with current events. We cannot right the wrongs of the past, but we must address the problems that are currently taking place. The Dems appear to be a fairly clean party at this point in time, while the Repugs are proving the adage: Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely
According to the Washington Post, at least one of the pages who received suggestive IMs was 17; I posted a link a few days ago but don't have time now to locate it.

Where do I give a pass to anyone? Can you cite where I absolve any pubbie of guilt for bad behavior? I just respond to the nonsense where pubbies are presented as the only poeple who engage in bad behavior. I also point out that there is a double atandard where pubbies are held accountable and dems are not, either by the dems or the media.
For example Livbingstone lost his job and congressional seat for an extramarital affair (not with a minor) where Clinton is lauded even though he was getting Bj's from an intern was alleged to have raped Juanita Brodderick, and Tek K of course got away with manslaughter (at the least) in the death of Mary JO and he is lauded as a great public servant by the demmies.
I enjoy poking fun at the hypocracy of the dems in these matters.

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."
Reaction for Democratic 'leaders' to the death of their pedophile friend:
Quote:
Reaction to the death of former Rep. Gerry Studds, D-Mass.:
"Gerry's leadership changed Massachusetts forever and we'll never forget him. His work on behalf of our fishing industry and the protection of our waters has guided the fishing industry into the future and ensured that generations to come will have the opportunity to love and learn from the sea. He was a steward of the oceans."
_ U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.
___
"No one fought harder for human rights, particularly in Latin America; for our environment; and for the fishermen of New England and the entire nation. He was a true pioneer."
_ U.S. Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., whose wife, Lisa, once worked as an aide to Studds.
___
"Gerry often said that it was the fight for gay and lesbian equality that was the last great civil rights chapter in modern American history. He did not live to see its final sentences written, but all of us will forever be indebted to him for leading the way with compassion and wisdom. He gave people of his generation, of my generation, and of future generations the courage to be who they are."
_ Dean Hara, who married Studds in 2004.
___
"Gerry was a stalwart champion of New England's fishing families as well as a committed environmentalist who worked hard to demonstrate that the cause of working people and the cause of the environment go hand in hand with the right leadership. When he retired from Congress, he did not retire from the cause, continuing to fight for the fishing industry and New England's environmental causes."
_ U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass.
Yup good old Gerry just a pillar of the community. BTW I'll take bets that when Mr Foley passes away you won't see this type of gushing praise from pubbies.
If your a lib it doesn't matter how vile your behavior you get a pass.

What Kennedy should have said, if he was being truthful
"Gerry's perversion changed Massachusetts forever and we'll never forget him. His work on behalf of promoting sex between grown men and minor Congressional pages has guided the militant gay agenda into the future and ensured that generations to come will have the opportunity to love and learn from an act that, if committed by a regular citizen, would have landed him in jail and on the state's sexual predator list. He was a stewardess of the oceans (and he just loved sea men.)"

Why should he rest in peace...? He's a scumbag homosexual pedophile that got minors drunk before molesting them. Of course, that didn't stop the citizens of the Commonwealth from sending him back to Capitol Hill for 12 more years.... But that's chump change considering they've been sending a murderer to Capitol Hill for almost 40 years.
It is pretty ******* sick to read these threads about a dead man, we pride ourselves as being vanguards of this nation which tends to be christian, there is pride amongst the right which espouses family values.. however, are very quick to take the role of the almighty and judge the dead and politicize him. There is no honor or dignity in taking that stand, he will be judged by a higher authority.
He is dead, pure and simple, he abused his authority and was not a good man in anyone's mind, but as I said before what was going on in 1983 was a much different standard than what goes on in 2006. The standards and values have changed, thank god, and we are better for it.

We are better for it? Studds fricking got a teenager drunk and then had his way with him!
We are better for allowing sexual predators like the pedophile Studds to not be tried in a criminal court? We deserve better.
