Why was Bush so soft in 2002 when he waived the Clinton era requirement that North Korea allow inspectors and released $95 million even though North Korea refused to allow inspectors?

The US Government has announced that it will release $95m to North Korea as part of an agreement to replace the Stalinist country's own nuclear programme, which the US suspected was being misused.

Under the 1994 Agreed Framework an international consortium is building two proliferation-proof nuclear reactors and providing fuel oil for North Korea while the reactors are being built.

In releasing the funding, President George W Bush waived the Framework's requirement that North Korea allow inspectors to ensure it has not hidden away any weapons-grade plutonium from the original reactors.

President Bush argued that the decision was "vital to the national security interests of the United States".

The mistake was to trust a lying communist dictator, like the previous administration, they gave him the technology and he did precisly what he agreed not to.

Bush did the only sensible thing trying to get the Chinese involved, since they prop the PRNK up.

Yeah Patters I think you'd be wise to not bash Bush on this matter. He's actually been trying to get the world to see that KJI has been up to no good. The problem is that no one in the world, save for Japan and South Korea, wanted to listen.
