President Bush said Monday that a reported North Korean nuclear test poses a threat to global peace and security, denouncing it as "unacceptable." Bush said the action "deserves an immediate response" by the U.N. Security Council."

Bush said he had called the leaders of South Korea, China, Russia and Japan, and all had reaffirmed a commitment to a nuclear-free Korean peninsula.

"Once again, North Korea has defied the will of the international community and the international community will respond," Bush said.

Bush said the United States was still attempting to confirm that a nuclear test had actually taken place. Still, he said, "such a claim itself constitutes a threat to international peace and security."

Of course, the righties, who take no responsibility for anything they do, will blame events of a decade ago. Clinton had a plan to deal with the North Koreans and it was making slow progress. Bush came in, rejected Clinton's approach, and now North Korea has nuclear weapons. Bush's legacy? Nuclear weapons in North Korea; taking out Iran's biggest enemy so that Iran could work on building its own nuclear weapons program; and the Republicans, ignoring the fact that 3,000 Americans have been killed since 9/11, like to say we're safer now than before. It would be LOL if it wasn't so sad. For a more dangerous world, vote Republican.

Real World

People need to realize that there are lunatics on this planet that don't believe in half the values that western society does. KJI wanted nukes a long time ago. He's never stopped trying to produce them. Back in the day when Clinton signed his "deal" with the north, they never stopped. They had a secret facility all the while. They didn't build this nuke yesterday. They've been working on it for decades. Negotiating with people like these doesn't work. They want what they want and nothing short of their demise will stop them.

Iran is next. Iran is going nuclear. We, nor the world can stop them. Why do people think they can negotiate with IRan or anyone else similar to them? Why does the UN or EU think that they can trade something for them to stop? They want nukes. The only thing that will get them to stop trying to manufacture a nuke is the finished product. Sanctions might work, millions will die in the process, but at least the fat cats in the UN will make billions. Remember some of that money will get spent in the NYC economy.

I like how Bush said that they defied the will of the international community.

Everybody knows only we're allowed to defy the will of the international community.

Oh and for the record Real World, you've made it pretty clear that you don't believe in 1/2 the values western society does. So I don't see how saying it about someone else will work to bring them to their rhetorical knees.
