The FDR days are over NEM...and with good reason. People work too hard for their money to give it away. I predicted several years ago the rebirth of a moderated conservatism will come from the influx of Latin Americans into the country.
I know this for fact because I have many, many Latin American friends and contacts. These people have too many morals to be persuaded by the democrats. They work too hard for their money and they cannot stand people who suck $$$ from others.
Right now...thanks to Bush the conservative movement is too far right. But, it will come back in a huge explosion of moderate/conservative people like myself. People who are compassionate for many and not just the chosen ones liberals are compassionate for.
These people may identify with the democratic party now but believe me they are not and never will be liberals. Liberalism will take one last gasp in the next election or two and then liberals will become the extreme minorities in the country such as the neo cons are now.
The country will have a huge proportion of moderates who will vote their conscious on the issues..not for a party and not for B.S. These people have seen to much too think any party will stand up for them...they will vote for the person...as it should be.
So you reflect on the glory of FDR...it is not coming back and it will never come back. Sadly, Bush has used the notions of FDR to gain the power his people seek...it has led to massive deficits in all areas.
My hope is that America sees how truly morally deficient the democratic party is ... they already know that with the G.O.P. thanks to Bush...and a viable 3rd party driven by blue collar America arises. I hope that America learns to vote for good honest moral leaders and not criminals like Clinton and power mungers like Bush.
