Holy Diver's posting on this is a sub-intellectual rant. And this issue is only going to get bigger, now that the Community Organizer has entered the fray (see Drudge), with his typical tone deafness. So here goes.
America is a free country where you can build whatever you want -- but not anywhere. That's why we have zoning laws. No liquor store near a school, no strip malls where they offend local sensibilities, and, if your house doesn't meet community architectural codes, you cannot build at all.
These restrictions are for reasons of aesthetics. Others are for more profound reasons of common decency and respect for the sacred. No commercial tower over Gettysburg, no convent at Auschwitz -- and no mosque at Ground Zero.
Build it anywhere but there.
Note the proposed name of the mosque, Cordoba, is for the caliphate that once existed in Spain, in the West.
Wake up, America. I think in November we'll discover that people have woken up.

Holy Diver must be a truther, judging from the quotation marks around 911 attack site in his title.
This is an ongoing story that is getting geometrically bigger.
And like the beer summit, BO's inserting himself--as he has done recently--makes it truly national in scope.
Here's the latest from the adult working at Nat'l Review, Andy McCarthy, the federal prosecutor of the Blind Sheikh who orchestrated the bombing of the Twin Towers in 1993, writes in "How stupid does Obama think we are?":
Politico reports [and thanks to John Hinderaker at Powerline for pointing this out] that Obama is now seeking “to defuse the controversy” by explaining that he was merely talking about the mosque proponents’ legal right to build at the World Trade Center site. “I was not commenting and I will not comment,” he said, “on the wisdom of making the decision to put a mosque there” (emphasis added).
Good luck with that one. Compounding insult with cynicism and cowardice is probably not a winning strategy.
Who own's the land that is being sold to the company wanting to build a Mosque, and why are we not angry with the people who are selling the property?
Well, considering that Soho Enterprise, the developers of The Mosque, own half of it outright already, and have since 2006, that's partly a moot point since the land is not in the process of "being sold" but, is, in fact, currently owned.
They are looking to buy outright the building next door, however, even though they already have a 70 year lease from the owners - ConEd.
In other words, no one is now, or has been in the past, adverse to taking their money. They are only adverse to letting them do what they want after their money's been taken.

SO if they already own the property, then I'm sorry, it's their right to do with it what they want.
This is a direct effect from supporting Middle Eastern regimes with Oil money, same with China, we are going to send vast amounts of wealth to their countries, and all it does is come back here in the form of owning parts of our country.
So, sorry, it's too late, it's their land, and they can do with it what they want.
And yes, they are indeed building this at the site of their greatest attack on western culture, and now building a monument to that... This is what selling out the American worker has created... keep sending money else where, and it comes back in ways you never wanted.
Your right to object to the mosque is written in the Constitution and so is the right to build a mosque in the proposed location. There are no zoning laws that permit discrimination based on religious views. Our Constitution must continue to protect our nation against small-minded bigotry, even if the majority believes in it.
The building at 45-45 Park Place had been on the market for years with a sale price that at one point was $18 million. It was owned by Stephen Pomerantz, who died in 2006. His widow, Kukiko Mitani, said she was in debt and desperate to unload the property even at a bargain price of $4.8 million to El- Gamal.
