Default We have destroyed a nation

I truly hope Bush, Rumsfeld, and Cheney are tried for war crimes, even if it is done with them in abstentia. Given that the Iraqi war was based on lies and executed so terribly, these men will go down in history as villains (no matter what the right-wing says).

Iraq, one of the seats of civilization, under Saddam had fairly equal rights for women, good educational and health systems, and a strong economy up unitl 1991. True, Saddam was brutal with his political enemies, but the current situation shows that there was some reason for that. Sad to say, as evil as Saddam was, the people there and the nation there would have been better off with him than with the mess that Bush and his defenders have created.

I still hope that somehow we prevail, rather than create a fertile ground for terrorists and anti-American sentiment, but the news is just so bleak.

http://www.dailystar.com.lb/article....ticle_id=74395

Gunmen wearing uniforms of Iraqi security forces kidnapped 25 people from an office in central Baghdad in broad daylight Monday, police said. The Iraqi government said Monday that 30,359 families have fled their homes to escape sectarian violence from mid-February until July 30 as violence across the country left at least 20 people dead.

The gunmen pulled up in 15 four-wheel-drive vehicles and kidnapped employees and customers at the office on a street in Arasat, once a thriving commercial district that has seen many businesses close due to violence ravaging the country.

Some witnesses said the offices were those of the Iraqi-American Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Al-Rawi mobile telephone company.

"I was on the first floor of the Iraqi-American Chamber of Commerce and they took all the men downstairs. They were in camouflage army uniforms. They handcuffed the men and blindfolded them," said a witness who asked not to be named.

"Me and five others were left behind because all the cars were full."

Hunter S. Thompson once said, "Call on god, but row away from the rocks."

I bet no matter how much Bush proclaims that what he's doing is right, he'll issue blanket pardons to himself and every policy-maker in his administration before he leaves office.

There is no doubt about that. Little Scooter gets one. Rove will too. And then theres those Iran Contra castoffs still in the bowels of their bunkers in washington working on their new wargames.

Can someone actually be pardoned twice?

Yeah your tight I see the light, Iraq under Saddam was just a paradise on earth. The mass graves, invasion of Kuwait, paying suicide bombers, hosting Al Queda training camps.

Yeah clearly we really ruined a great situation over there.

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

Because they were pardoned for involvement during Reagans illegalities and returned to Bushs govt for more corruption and illegalities.

Give it up. Most Iraqis were better off before we invaded. Any poll you look at reveals the same. It wasn't paradise, but they had electricity to refrigerate food on those 115 degree desert afternoons.

Ahh. There's nothing in the constitution saying someone can't be pardoned twice (it would obviously be for different acts).
