The only reason you and the rest of america who were not at the concert and heard her 60 second sentence and not two hours of music.
Was the right -wing media made it available for you to hear that 60 second sentence and then made it a political issue for everyone in america 24 hours a day 7 days a week, including rallies cd burnings and refusing to play her cd's on radio stations nation wide.

Again I doubt 50 % percent of those britains were upset over a 60 second sentence that said I'm embarassed that bush is from texas

So it went fom a 60 second statement to a 3 year campaign of bashing the dixie chicks because like most performers do more that just sing to the audience, and again that particular audience was in england consisting of britains, who could give a sh-- about bush. But it sure was a great way to rally up a base over here in a america where less than 1 /10 of 1 percent were even at the friggen concert in england. Which one you think was more of a political statement, hers, or the republicans making it an issue here in america for 3 years Just my opinion
Now when you read the above post: You should realize that the dixie chicks didn't force their political views on americans. Because natalie maines statement of were embarassed that GWB is from texas, and then proceeding with the two hours of music. Keep in mind that at the time polls showed 90% of brits were against the Iraq war. And again it was in london england.
The only time this statement was forced down americans throats was when the right-wing media made it a political issue for 3 years on america. Otherwise you would have never heard natalie say in britain to britains that she is embarassed that GWB is from texas before playing music. Think about that!

Politics is not polite a business. The Dixie Chicks had every right and prerogative to say what they said, but their fans had every right and prerogative to react how they did. I lost a lot of respect for Curt Schilling when he was stumping for Bush in NH in 2004, but I think if he felt that strongly about helping his candidate, he did the right thing. It's not like these people are only entertainers - they had political opinions before they were famous and they're not going to stop having them now that they actually have a soapbox.

OK, I'll play Here's my guesses....

When it comes to primaries, there's absolutely nothing more important than a famous name. Simple familiarity with the person's name brings tremendous advantage when a lot of voters haven't heard of half the people on the list. That's why George Bush II won his nomination in 2000 and that is why I feel Hillary will win the nomination in 2008.

The Republicans are a bit more tricky. Mitt has a lot of familiarity in NH and will most likely win the NH primary. But is he a John Kerry who can ride that victory into the summer months, or a Paul Tsongas who will quickly fade...?

Right - and they said this at the moment that our nation was on the eve of War. If it was Barbra Streisand, her liberal fanbase wouldn't care one bit. But it's probably not the smartest thing to do when 99% of your fan base hails from the reddest of red states.

So someone expresses a liberal viewpoint and you blame the "right-wing media" for reporting it...?

Gotta say that's a strange line of thinking there....

The real strange line is the right-wing media telling america for three years that natalie is forcing her political views on americans.

When all she said was ''I'm embarassed that GWB is from texas in london england to english fans where a poll at the time reported 90% were against the Iraq war.

The only one forcing their views on america in this issue is the republican base.

If the right -wing media never brought it up, america wouldn't have heard natalie maines say she was embarassed that GWB was from texas to britains.
Now thats strange.

Wait... that's faulty logic. If she said it, then the media should repeat it. Especially if her listeners want to know what their favorite Dixie Chick is up to. Sometimes a good point can be unpopular, her only mistake was apologizing and not sticking to her guns.

Again, this is your backwards thinking in action. She says it, the "right-wing" media reports it, and you blame the "right-wing media" for accurately reporting what she said.

But who was forcing their political views down americans throats on this issue. If you hear the responses of americans who do not want entertainers forcing thier political views at concerts or any other public stage in america.
I would say the dixie chickens didn't say it in america and what they said is a slight jab about bush to britains. And the right-wingers picked it up and used it as a weapon for political purposes forcing down americas throat and effectively having the dixie chicks censored. That 60 second sentence was one costly free speech fubar.

One group said something, another group reported it. I don't see any "forcing" of any issue down anyone's throats.

OK, you obviously don't know the meaning of the word "censored" as it relates to free speech in this country. I suggest you learn about real censorship before using a word like that so recklessly.
