Default e-Passports: Ready or not here they come

Less freedom for those who travel out of the country?
Better security for the world?

I don't have a passport...never have...I guess I'm a homer.

Just wondering how others who travel alot feel about this?

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Imagine being overseas and your identity being available for the taking - your nationality, your name, your passport number. Everything.
That's the fear of privacy and security specialists now that the State Department plans to issue "e-Passports" to American travelers beginning in late August.

They'll have radio frequency identification (RFID) tags and are meant to cut down on human error of immigration officials, speed the processing of visitors and safeguard against counterfeit passports.
Yet critics are concerned that the security benefit of RFID technology, which combines silicon chips with antennas to make data accessible via radio waves, could be vastly outweighed by security threats to the passport holder.

I was going to say "Scum Bags" but I won't, I will say "Undesirable People" people who are a danger to the world and who would slit your throat at the drop of a hat have created this situation, not GW Bush.

When somebody comes into my yard I want to who the hell they are, the world is full of murdering savages, is it not?

I doubt Pakistan will be able to issuue anything like this any time soon. Tha Suadi's will, though, because we share everything with them.

This is a very bad idea. I prefer the more secure paper form in a US office type of passport. No transmitter, thanks. Seems like the government has other things on their mind besides national security, like moving people through airports faster so the Airlines can make better profits. Does anyone else think there's another reason for this, other than the creeping fascism we've become accustomed to.

They can pretty much follow you around by your cellphone signal...so yes...there must be more to it. Like a terrorist is going to use one of these...please...they will still go wherever they want inside a 55 gallon drum.
