Default Steve Largent's son indicted

Gotta love those home spun, old fashioned family values.

First, kids are their own people - you can only do so much as a parent. Second, there was nothing there to suggest it wasn't consensual. Sex with an underage girl may be unlawful but it's hardly like forecable rape.

Some cop that gets sexual favors from teenage prostitutes will arrest him.

Of course, at some point you have to accept responsibility as an adult. However, when a family goes about whoring their christian beliefs in an effort to get the father elected governor (he lost) then it does become interesting when a product of that environment turns out to be a sex offender.

Whether or not it's consentual is completely irrelevant. It's against the law. End of story. For all we know, this girl could have been 12. Surely you're not suggesting a 20-year-old man screwing a child is okay?

Your point is exactly the one every other sex offender tries to make. But she looked much older...

No. He gets special treatment. He gets to turn himself in...in a couple of weeks after he gets back from Cabo.

No doubt I don't know what happened. And, yes, she could have been 12. Or she could have been a month under 16. Illegal, yes. But consensual statutory rape isn't THAT wrong is the girl is around 16. I'm not trying to defend him as much as to say that it may not be as bothersome to me as to some. Remember when you were in high school ?

The high school analogy isn't a bad one. It's not uncommon for seniors to date sophomores these days. My problem is that he's college aged and should have known better.

The summer after my freshman year in college I had a chance to hook up with a 16-year-old. I was 20, but I knew, no matter how tempting it was, it was a bad idea.

Girls that age are about one step away from being mental patients anyway with all the hormones. All of the sudden her mommy reads her diary and the next thing you know there's a cop, or worse yet, an angry papa bear, at my door. No thanks.

So yes, if she was 16 and he's 20 and it was consentual then he's probably only guilty of being incredibly stupid. But if it turned out that she was 11 or 12, well that's a whole new realm.

I agree. I just think it's a little early to go nutty over this one
