Default OT: Arizona in July

I know a couple of you in here are living in/ have lived in Arizona.

My troop won the board, as expected, and he gets to go to beautuful downtown Sierra Vista right smack in the middle of July.

I am trying my best to figure a way for me to get there. My unit is out of money and they are shaking out all the piggy banks to scrape up enough for me to accompany him. I may have to just catch a few hops with the zoomies and work my way to Luke or Davis Monthan, then rent a car to drive down to Fort Huachuca.

Anyway the point of my thread, is there anything fun and exciting going on? What should I not miss out on during our stay? I've been there one time previously and we did a whirlwind tour of the area but that was 6 years ago and I can't remember too much.

My buddy just took a job at Huachuka. I can give you his email address just PM me. He was stationed there prior to this and that is his wife's hometown. So they know they area quite well.

I emailed him your question.

I'm going to PM you now...I could really use a map of the training area, if your buddy could get one. Part of the competition is the land nav course and it always helps to start studying the maps early.

Don't forget to see the annual "Fry an Egg on the Roof of Your Car Festival" in Winslow July 10-15.
