Bush Flip Flops all over the place regarding singing of Spanish National Anthem...
The great decider decided this week that the National Anthem should be sung in English, but when he was campaigning in 2000 it was part of the regular dog and pony show...guess it is ok to court votes during an election, but not ok after the election when it goes against popular opinion...I am confused isn't this Mr. Decisive, the elected President who was going to unite us all???? http://www.prisonplanet.com/articles...0506Anthem.htm
Apparently, Secada singing the anthem in Spanish was a regular feature of the Bush campaign. From the 8/3/00 Miami Herald:
The nominee, his wife Laura, erstwhile rival John McCain and his wife Cindy joined Bush on a platform where children sang the national anthem - in “Spanglish,” Secada explained.
At his inaugaration in 2001 it was sung again:

From Cox News Service, 1/18/01:
The opening ceremony reflected that sentiment. A racially diverse string of famous and once famous performers entertained Bush, soon-to-be First Lady Laura Bush, Vice President-elect Richard B. Cheney and his wife, Lynne, who watched on stage from a special viewing area.
Pop star Jon Secada sang the national anthem in English and Spanish.
Don't forget folks the Spanish Version was translated in 1919 and appears on the State Dept web site, for those who do not know the words in Spanish:
There is a trend here, we need to protect Iraq from the brutal dictator and save the Iraqi people, but ignore Sudan...
The UN is irrelevant and inneffective to stop Suddam Hussein, but is viable to help Sudan..
This party is fast becoming the party of situational ethics and inconsistency, flip flopping their way into obscurity....

How do you go from the National anthem to Sudan? What would the connection be?

And as a more on-topic question, why did Bush say it wasn't OK to sing the national anthem in Spanish, when it was done at his own campaign appearances. I want to hear the neocons admit hypocracy here.
I remember being in south fl. at the time bush was running in 2000, he was heavily courting the spanish vote.... And was giving a very supportive message to vincente fox.. Good message for the illegals, Just think about how many ilegals poured into this country since his election...
It should not be supported by the government in anyway shape or form. The national language is english. He was wrong for doing that! And anyone who is for the government officially supporting a spanish version of the National Anthem is wrong as well!

It's on the State Dept website, and was written in the early part of the century. It's still the AMERICAN National Anthem, being in another language just lets other people understand it. Besides - what a group of artists wants to do with a song in the public domain is their business, I don't see why politicians even felt the need to comment on it.

I don't care what civilians do with it but the government should not officially recognize it in any other language.
This thread shows the hatred for this president by the left. This thread serves no other purpose then to try and retaliate on the behalf of Kerry by saying Bush is a flip flopper. The sad part is he had to do it with such a worthless point, the National Anthem in Spanish.

Ok, first things first - the left (among other people - like myself) DO hate our current President. I'm not ashamed of hating the President, he brought it on himself.
Second, you can't say that the President isn't being an opportunist here. When he needs the Spanish vote he sings in Spanish, but when he needs the conservative vote it becomes wrong?
