I think one issue that we don't discuss is that most on the left never want to see a political group emerge that is predominently caucasion. Of course, there is nothing wrong with that since they didn't organize for that reason or make that their goal. It just so happens that independents & conservatives are predominently white.

It just seems to me that the left and especially the far-left only want to see "Rainbow/Kumbaya" political groups.

Go figure...

You guys all decide on this question. What KIND of third party do you want?

I keep hearing Coke and Pepsi, Coke and Pepsi, Coke and Pepsi. So you want a third party to be something in the middle between Coke and Pepsi? What the hell for?

I love seeing the local pundits proclaim "Coke and Pepsi" one day and decry partisanism and gridlock the next. You can't be so far apart nothing gets done if you're identical.

Me, I don't mind a rightist third party to fragment the Republican vote. In fact, with the state of the country, I was wondering how the GOP was going to avoid re-taking the House, but it looks like they've found a way.

Still, the overlap between the tea parties and the Republican base is near total. The overlap between Republicans and Democrats is far less.

So how the hell does this represent any sort of alternative?

Personally would like a party that espouses peaceful conflict(we have had enough wars), downsizing our military, closing half of our overseas bases, controlling the defense contractor merry go round, minimizing gov't intervention in education, developing a systemic and equitable response to illegal immigration, educated drilling/oil exploration and development of alternative energy sources, a party that believes that a woman has a right to choose, a party that is very diverse and reflects the population, getting rid of the scum lobbyists.. on and on. Imagine?????

You missed my point....

Which is that if a party organizes that ends up being mostly one demographic

IT IS OK

Hope that's clear enough.

So if the Tea Party is 97% caucasion because they want less taxes & less spending, there is absolutely NOTHING WRONG with that. This point really can't be argued....unless you'd care to try.

Does that not infer that those who are on the right, espically those on the far-right do NOT want to see Rainbow/Kumbaya political groups but instead, prefer, only a solid all-white, non-colorful, non-harmonic political group?

You're right...it really doesn't and that is the challenge facing the republican party moving toward 2012. My guess is that the TP will end up aligning with the republicans, but will demand their agenda be included.

Right now, it appears they have the voice to accomplish that.

NOw that's a naive comment to make, isn't it?

Race has nothing to do with political parties MrsP and I know you already understand that.

Political parties and/or groups develop their platform based upon they're views and values. Now of course it's smart to attract the largest base possible and that would include any race that shares their views.

Personally, if I started a my own political group, the idea of attracting particar races would be totally irrelevant. Either people agree with me or they don't.

So which statement do you mean, PR? The one above or the one below?
