Default Riots In California

When you don't agree with the system set your city on fire, Imagine if The Tea Party People tried this.

After dark, mobs form, smash windows, loot

I imagine the response would be the same, wouldn't it?

Can't argue that one, it looked like an execution, or uncontrolable panic, I can't understand a well trained police officer being so stupid as to just shoot somebody in the back for no reason at all especially a minority, it's a tough one, the riots are another story I think I'll stay away from.....

I don't think, and I could be wrong, that the cop intentionally shot the kid, but do feel that he deserves to do time. Accidentally or not, you can't shoot someone like that, and just show up for work the next day like nothing happened. I'm not sure what involuntary manslaughter means for a punishment. I've read everything from probation, to years in jail. I'll wait to see what his sentence is before passing final judgement.

I remember this when it happened, i watched the video of it happening, the cop reached back pulled out his gun and shoot the kid. As soon as the gun went off there was a look of absolute shock on his face. My impression was that the kid on the ground wasn't resisting and didn't need to be tazed, and that that was the cop was reaching for his tazer.

While i think the cop needs to do the max for involuntary manslaughter it wasn't murder is was gross negligence.

People were rioting becuase Lebron James didnt sign with the Warriors.

On the real, this was the correct verdict. And in the future, BART cops (aka glorified mall cops) shouldnt be packing heat.

People were all freaked out, law enforcement was on the ready, and almost everyone in the area was bracing for the worst. I myself got at least 4 different warnings about commuting home yesterday.

83 arrests, burning of buisnesses, smashing stuff...

some idiots do that when teams win championships. Thats a victory for Oakland.

I think designing a taser, to feel like a gun, is a mistake as well. I'm with flex and HD on this. I think some punishment is absolutely deserved, but the crime is more of gross negligence, than outright murder.

Well, allegedly Mehserle thought he was going for his tazer and accidentally pulled his service weapon instead.

Now I'm not a cop or anything, but that seems a little far-fetched for me. I mean, this clearly was not a shootout or a situation where there was a clear and present danger to the officer. Likewise, I think for most officers pulling your service weapon is reflexive, so it seems odd that he could just pull a weapon from the opposite side of his waist by accident. Even if he was reaching for his tazer, from what I can tell from the video, even that may have been a bit more excessive than the situation warranted.

But like you said, best to wait for the sentence before making any final judgments.

As evidenced by white? All the white folk that rioted after OJ Simpson (literally) got away with murder?
