Default Greetings from Nag's Head

Saying hi on the iPhone from Nag's Head... I understand Cape Hatteras maybe 60 miles south of here, is the current projected Northernmost extent of BP's disaster of negligence... So I hope this place makes it without incident. It makes me think about the disappearance of so many people's birthright, the theft and despoiling of their environment, in the name of deregulation and easy corporate profits

not a peep from the something for nothing crowd in the Tea Party of course.... No rallies, no "defund BP act".... Well, I guess in the 1770s we dumped tea into a harbor to protest big government (sic), so any time someone spills some vast amount of non-water into a body of water, that must be what our founding fathers were fighting for...

Musings of a middle class guy on an unspoiled beach, where everybody has a 4 x 4 and they're starting to put up wind turbines

Hi from an island in Maine, I lifted up some seaweed this morning and found a "Dukakis Bumper Sticker"

Wow flex, just pointing out I'm texting so my post is likely to be only vastly superior to the usual tripe here, rather than exponentially so. I don't want anybody to mistakenly conclude that I think I'm better than them because I'm some kind of digerati hipster, when in fact I'm better than them for so many other reasons....

But mainly I'm just glad that the environmentalists and the coast guard are too preoccupied this year to try to "tow me back home" when I'm on the beach

I wanna stay.

When I saw the subject line of this thread, I honestly thought he was talking about his wife.

I once drove my Impreza on the beach a little up the coast from Nags Head, and it's tricky stuff. I had several tips from some of my friends who live there, and if not for some of those, I'm sure would have been hiring the local "towing service".

Have fun down there, and don't forget to not buy an OBX sticker.

This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon.”

Didn't think you were one upping, thought it was parody... So was flippant back though I'm sure I came across as serious... As for exercise, the best I can manage is walking up to one of our 2 nearby piers, drink and cigarette in hand, wearing standard issue old man straw hat and Nicholson shades. I must say the look suits me. And as to politics, I have elected myself mayor of margaritaville.

Nik, wife was a newbie last year... And so I became the proud owner of my first ever Obx sticker.

I have to admit I thought they were cool around 1980 or so, especially since in dc you see so many country stickers like DE and NZ... But in the food lion parking lot I saw an suv with at least a dozen of them from various u.s. Tourist attractions... And i fear the country sticker joke is a thing of the past

Indeed. That fad ruined the "chic-ness" of the original, starting around 2000 I would say.

I do see a lot of OBX stickers in DC, but I'm even seeing a bunch of them here in CT now.

Nag's Head is a very politically incorrect name ....

I'm going to complain to the NAACP about this ....
