Default Today's bigotry

Two significant stories out of conservative hotbeds.

(1) Jake Knotts | Haley Raghead | South Carolina Raghead | Mediaite

First, Knotts called Haley (a Christian who is of Sikh descent) a “******ing raghead.” When the stunned hosts of the show, Senate Republican Caucus political director Wesley Donehue and Senate Democratic Caucus political director Phil Bailey, asked him to clarify, he apologized…for using the F word.

...

‘We got a raghead in Washington; we don’t need one in South Carolina,’ (State Senator) Knotts said more than once. ‘She’s a raghead that’s ashamed of her religion trying to hid it behind being Methodist for political reasons.’”

...

‘We need a good Christian to be our governor,’ he said. ‘She’s hiding her religion. She ought to be proud of it. I’m proud of my god.’

(2) Altered mural fuels racial debate in Prescott (Arizona)

A group of artists has been asked to lighten the faces of children depicted in a giant public mural at a Prescott school.

The project's leader says he was ordered to lighten the skin tone after complaints about the children's ethnicity. But the school's principal says the request was only to fix shading and had nothing to do with political pressure.

Haley is the tea Party candidate in SC. She is also being smeared for alleged affairs. Nasty business.

Religious zealots tend to dislike religious zealots of other flavors. I could go on for hours as to why religion is bad, but I'll just say let's get some athiests in office!

Even nastier and salicious when the right try to eat their own... find it interesting that the state that once wanted it to become a theocracy, is nothing but a bunch of adulterers... Praise Jesus, and pass the condoms..

I second that. Atheists, knowing they have no chance for salvation, know that they have only this life to do good. It's easier for religious people to be corrupt, since they know that there are a number of routes to salvation, even if they screw up.

I was going more for the religion generally looks down on those that are not card carrying members so an atheist is more of a clean slate type guy in regards to equality, but your point is good to and I'll go with it!

I'll third it. At my family and friendly gatherings, conversations about religion or politics are banned. Never a good thing when mixing alcohol with those things. Amazing results when politicians talk religion. This moron is doomed any place except S Carolina. This type of talk will probably get him elected and that's why he's using it. Good tactic down there.

That makes a lot of sense. I'll intentionally do bad things, because I'm a believer in Jesus Christ (or whomever it is you believe in), and in the end, I'll donate $100 to charity, and all will be forgiven.

Bad people do bad things. Be they people of faith, or athiests.

Bible boppers bug me. I have no problem with people believing in whatever it is they want to believe in. What I dislike, is people imposing their beliefs onto others. When I hear people say that methodist is this, or that budist is that, cuz this so & so sucks too, I get annoyed. Enjoy, celebrate, or drown yourself in your religion, but just leave everyone else alone. My God is no better, or no more important than someone else's. It's religious freedom for a reason.

My comment wasn't made with complete seriousness, so I agree with you.

In my opinion, all organized religion is the enemy of gov't.

I don't mean "enemy" as in "WAR", but more that religion should have NOTHING to do with any gov't in ANY nation. Governments' job is to govern, nothing more and nothing less.

Now don't get me started on nations that have adopted Sharia laws as the laws of their land. That's just a declaration by a nation that says, "we want to live in the middle-ages and don't want any progress!"
