Hold the drama queen BS, Harry. While Obama has performed miserably, he has only continued the miserable performance of the office for the past 30 years. But you're right (if not over-dramatic) about the failure of the White House in this matter, of course.
One thing, though. Don't let BP and Trans Ocean off the hook on this. They owned and operated the rig. They lied about the amount, though technically they didn't by using the lowest possible number of the flow rate range, but from an emergency responce perspective, they actually did lie because they knew that the quantity was very likely much higher. They lied because of liability reasons because the lower everyone thinks the number is, the lower their fines and liability is and that's criminal- not just against the laws of the US but against the laws of nature and survival. They said 5000 bbls but now estimates have put it at close to 10 times the amount. That would have gone a long way toward reducing the impact.
Either way, it was obvious that Obama didn't respond nearly adequately and the inaction and lack of co-ordination on the part of the government is heinous and negligent at least.
