kbr and haliburton are two different companies. what haliburton did in iraq could not have been replicated by any one company. kbr was spun off of haliburton. they do different things. i still believe haliburton was the best and only choice for the war with iraq.
My point was that the generals requested, and if we are going to be in idiotic wars would much rather listen to those implementing the whole logistics of this than those inside the beltway.. with that being said KBR and Haliburton have committed enough fraud for a couple of lifetime sentences...

"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him." Leo Tolstoy, 1897
The Army, in its statement yesterday, said putting to bid an order for 18 months’ work and making the transition to a new contractor would cost at least $77 million. The KBR work order will be awarded by Aug. 31, said Mike Hutchison, deputy director of Army logistics contracting.
Good enough reason for me. Of course the fact that we're still right on target for exiting Iraq when Obama said we would is irrelevant. The important thing here is that the nation isn't tossing away $77 million dollars to satisfy teabaggers who can't be satisfied.

And you're not spinning? Huh. Could have fooled me.

No point? The point is in Obama's own words, and campaign promises (as shown in the video link), as well as the continuous criticisms of the Bush Administration for awarding no bid contracts. How many times have people in this very forum, hammered the Bush regime over this very issue? Yet here we are, with Obama in power, doing the same exact thing, and all of you are making excuses for him. So will you all now appologize for criticizing the Bush Admin in years past? Afterall, he was just doing it to save us money (sarcasm). The point is, you've been exposed for the frauds that you are. Call a spade a spade.
I wonder if CNN will count this as a broken campaign promise.

This has already been noted as a broken campaign promise for some time. Perhaps you haven't been paying attention, which wouldn't come as a surprise.
If it really ends up saving 70 million, I can see why they did it, but on face value (without really knowing what factored into the decision-making process) it's not something I support.
