What?!? Do you have a clue? Of course it works that way. There are X number of dollars budgeted for specific programs. There are X number of units in a dwelling that come with a subsidy. For everyone else not paying attention, or reading the tea leaves here, Mrs. P is the epitomy of the problem. She believes that the funding is endless. That illegals stealing funds they don't deserve, is ok, cuz we'll just hand out more funds. Of course, when the funding does run short, what do people like Mrs. Moonbat say? How about "increase funding", or stuff like "we need more affordable housing". More food stamps, subsidies, fuel assistance, etc. It never ends. Worse, is that they want to rubber stamps these leaches. What's better than adding 10-20 million red inkers, who are dependent on the gubmit giving them and endless supply of other people's money?

They have to go ASAP.

This is why basic math and finance, on a practical, Real World level, needs to be more emphasized in our schools. For every 1,000 applicants, the cost would be $6,000. If you prevented .1% of applicants from recieving benefits who shouldn't, do you think you'd be saving $6,000 over the course of their lifetime? Since I work with subsidized real estate, the answer is an absolute YES!!!!!! You'd save it a matter of months, if not sooner. What do you think Auntie Zenuttie cost the state/city/town/whatever over the 5 or 10 years that she was on welfare? Do you think Auntie Zenutti is the only illegal on the taxpayer dole? Hell no. This is why I can't stand appologists. They are CLUELESS! If they aren't clueless, they are simply FOS. Which is why their only retort, tends to be the R word.

DC is really really REALLY working on their schools. I don't have kids in school anymore so I'm only aware in an interested stranger kind of way. Michelle Rhee is really making alot of changes and Fenty is letting her run with it. Lots of teachers seem to dislike her but she truly seems to have the interest of the children at heart.

No matter what people around here might feel - it really ought to be about the children. They are one of the few resources of the world that we can have a positive affect on and they, alone, are soon going to be the only ones who can make or break the world and all it entails. If they are left uneducated or poorly educated, if their health suffers, if they're hungry or homeless or beaten or broken their potential contributions to society are lost....instead of adding to it, they will be draining away from it.

And, like it or not, that includes the children of illegals already here. Whatever law their parents broke, whatever law their parents might be continuing to break - the kids are here - and they need to be taken care of because they aren't going anywhere.

As a country we all pitch in when there is a disaster somewhere - be it Haiti or China or Timbaktu - and we do it willingly and pleasantly - and we do it for the children mostly....and for the parents who care for them. Why is it so hard to do it here at home? It is no more the fault of a child who is born to an illegal alien that he is in need of assistance than it is the fault of a child whose home has been destroyed by an earthquake. They, of all of us, are blameless.

Ok...end of impassioned speech which will be torn apart and laughed at.
