They keep making these silly (yet honest) mistakes, don't they?
"Photo portrayed as Iraq taken in Istanbul
A Republican who is running for Senate in the US was under fire for publishing a web photo which was portrayed as being a picture of himself in a peaceful Baghdad suburb, but was actually taken in Istanbul. The photo which appeared on the congressional candidate, Howard Kooligian's website had the caption "We took this photo of Baghdad while we were in Iraq, Iraq is much more calm and stable than what many people believe it to be."
Bloggers started to question the photo earlier this week, as posters were not in Arabic and western products were being advertised.
A statement released by Kaloogian said that it had been a mix up as photos were taken in both Iraq and Turkey on their trip back to the US. "It had been a mix up there was nothing sinister about it," said Kaloogian.
Kaloogian, a former state assemblyman who founded Move America Forward to support the war and is now running for Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham's House seat, took the photo down on Wednesday.
