He qualifies because he was born in Hawaii ... not for any other reason.

The birthers contention is that he was born elsewhere ... and had his birth certificate done in Hawaii, which was the practice there at the time. This issue (birther) is moot at this point.

Speaking of Birthers Az. passed a law that essentially says that any president who appears on an Az. ballot has to show his birth certificate... much ado about nothing..

Guess all those layers or security we have with the accompanying agencies don't know jack..

Yah. Arizona should have spent their media time working on requirements for gov. of Arizona, which is what AZ can actually legislate. A state can't add electoral requirements for the presidency. If this even comes up it should make for an entertaining jaunt through the courts.

Let me honestly ask you this question, with all of our layers of security in the US Government.. NSA, FBI, CIA and a whole host of other anacronyms.. that they did not know the truth and did not inform Bush????.. if it were true Obama would have been blown out in the Iowa Caucus.. there is no smoke and no fire, just a lot of idle rhetoric and a whole bunch of hysteria..

Regardless if you beleive Obama was born in Hawaii or Kenya or Mars this is why he should have put this to bed a long long time ago...

The Immigration and Nationality Act would make Obama an illegal alien if he was indeed born outside the US. As at the time of his birth (for this purpose we are assuming 1961, as nobody knows for sure) the laws stated that children born outside of the United States to one US citizen parent and an alien, would automatically become a US citizen IF one of the parents was physically present in the United States (or its outlying possessions (Guam, Marshal Islands) for a period of ten years, AND AT LEAST FIVE OF THOSE YEARS AFTER THE AGE OF 14.

This law was amended on 11/14/1986 to change the time to 5 years 2 after 14. But the changes are only for children born on or after 11/14/1986.

This is very important to the arguement becasue since Obama's mother was only 17 when he was born, it is IMPOSSIBLE for him to have derived US citizenship from his mother. In fact unless she got him a "NA-3" immigrant visa, he would be an illegal alien!!!

I have no idea where or when Obama was born, the mere fact that this is still a question is a troubling statement about the absolute death of journalism here in America. Anyone who has had a kid can attest, you get to know the other people on the maternity ward at the time. I'm sure without much trouble a reporter could track down other people who were born in that Hospital in 1961 and interview them, and if a 17 year old hippie girl gave birth to a black baby in Hawaii in 1961, the rest of the people on the maternity ward would remember that and that would be the end of it. The fact that nobody has done this is very troubling.....the same people who found out the GWB got a traffic ticket in the sixties, can't bother to figure out or prove if the President is indeed a US citizen.......

Ariz House: Check Obama's Citizenship

PHOENIX -- The Arizona House on Monday voted for a provision that would require President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate if he hopes to be on the state's ballot when he runs for reelection.

The House voted 31-22 to add the provision to a separate bill. The measure still faces a formal vote.

It would require U.S. presidential candidates who want to appear on the ballot in Arizona to submit documents proving they meet the constitutional requirements to be president.

Phoenix Democratic Rep. Kyrsten Sinema said the bill is one of several measures that are making Arizona "the laughing stock of the nation."

Mesa Republican Rep. Cecil Ash said he has no reason to doubt Obama's citizenship but supports the measure because it could help end doubt.
