godhatesfags.com won this round apparently, and the father who brought them to Court now has to pay legal fees of Fred Phelps and his band of unmerry wacko's... this will prove to be a very interesting case.

FYI two of the three judges in this case were appointed by George W.. so there will be no ensuing discussion of activist court...

The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday ordered that Snyder pay more than $16,000 in costs requested by Westboro for copies of motions, briefs and appendices, according to court documents.

Am amazed that no one has "taken" him out.. with all the nut jobs in America, he seems like and easy mark.. his daughter is a winner also.

Another case of extremist religion..

Run across them every year in Mardi Gras.. last year was in Jackson Square, and there was a Westboro Guy who had a sandwich board about fornication, masturbation, gambling a whole bunch of crap... walking next to the Westboro Dude was another guy with a sign that said "who invited this guy to the party???".. I went over and shook his hand.

Do they really think that amidst all their noise that anyone will listen to them on Bourbon St???.. they make a difficult police effort more difficult as they need to be escorted.

I don't think this father was entitled to money, free speech is free speech; but he should be entitled to think that what happened to him was wrong and to get his day in court without fear of punishment. IMO making him pay Westboro's costs is exactly that, punishment. Its the result of people constantly screaming about blood sucking lawyers and tort reform.

I find it exceptionally depressing that this society can't figure out a way to allow the families of our war dead to bury their loved ones with some dignity and peace. We have to find a way to stop this evil church from doing what they do.

BillO'Reilly has just paid the guy's legal bills, you would think that Obama would have stepped up and done it, but at least O'Reilly knew what was the right thing to do.....

Does it have to be legal? If there's some centrist moderate militia out there looking for something to do that will score major points, there's a job for you.

I think O'Rielly just won the race to pay this guy's bills, but good gfor him. There would have been dozens of people of all stripes rushing to pay that tab, I'll bet.

Interesting comment.. keep in mind that two of the three judges are appointments of George W.. so the thought police say it is a good and just decision, not done by the activist court...
