Why isn't anyone on TV or in Congress saying anything about the winfall profits that will be realized by the corporations because of this "healthcare reform" bill? Some of the crooks in DC would have you believe it's about "compassion for the uninsured" or "saving the unborn"...BALONEY! A wise man once said: "Follow the money!" We've all been had. There is no "left" and "right" in the real world. There's only "making money" and "making more money".
...Passage of the measure promises relief to hospitals providing uncompensated care to uninsured patients. It also should expand Medicaid enrollment, thereby boosting business for health insurers focused on providing coverage through the government program for lower-income and disabled Americans.
...For medical devices, investors have long known the overhaul would entail an industry tax. Now they know specifically that the House-approved legislation would add a 2.3% excise tax starting in 2013. Some questions remain, such as how much device companies can pass to hospitals, but investors now at least know what the industry will pay, said Tim Nelson, a senior health-care analyst at FAF Advisors Inc. in Minnesota, which owns shares of device companies.
...In the drug arena, ViroPharma Inc. (VPHM), a biopharmaceutical company, and its peers are seen as benefiting from a provision creating a 12-year exclusivity period before their products could be subject to "biosimilar," or generic competition, Jefferies & Co. noted. This would add five years to the seven that ViroPharma has for its Cinryze medication, Jefferies analyst Thomas Wei said. ViroPharma gained 5% to $14.14.

Some of us have been pointing this out for months citing passeges in the bill. Why are you suprised?
BTW the Bill also cut off funding to states that pass tort reform and caps trial lawyers fees.

Oh really? I musta missed that! Ummmm...maybe it's because I don't live here all day everyday.
My point was not so much who is gaining and losing on Wall Street as who was full of crap and who was oblivious to anything because they were too partisan and reflexive to the cries and lies of both parties. Republicans were freaking out about the Congressman from SD who switched because of some crap about abortion funding while the democrats are claiming that this will save money...as if either of those had anything to do with "reforming" healthcare. There's a good word- "healthcare". It's come to mean the difference between left and right, capitalism and socialism. Honestagod, these liars on Wall Street and Congress will make any issue about those things because Americans can't see the forest through the trees. Gullible as usual.

Ive been looking into Healthcare firms to invest in all day. Nothing really jumps out at me as they already seem to have this news built into their price.
Thats like me saying "BTW the bill also poisons white people who voted for McCain"
NO source, just an aside? please provide a source for that, and a link to the language in the bill that says that....thanks.
One of the other threads I cited the section and language. The dems protected their ambulance chasing buds. you are aware of how much the trial Lawyers contribute to dems right?

Fail.
Please link the language. Please provide something.
I know lawyers give money to dems AND republicans. I know Health insurers give money to dems AND republicans.
I also know Health insurers put out misinformation to people like YOU and watch as you spew falsehoods without facts.
THUS, I'm asking you to back up your claim with more than "I posted a link in another thread"
YOU Made the claim, YOU back it up.

I think that's the problem with this country and it's only going to get worse since the Supremes gave that gift to the corporations this winter.
Such bull***** from both sides, though, about their concerns for people, born and unborn, and their hatred for all things the other side represents. Dems in particular should be ashamed of themselves for letting Repubs slap them around on this. No matter which side you're on, you have to look in AWE at hoe the Obamans caved on most of their original agenda...and be equally in AWE at how the Republicans wouldn't give one inch on anything in the original bill, going so far as to say they wanted to scrap it and start over. How infantile!
If Obama had the nuts and fired Rahm Emmanuel, he could have driven ANY bill through this Congress. He's a lousy politician and has no clue how to turn the screws when they need turning.
Also very disappointed in Kicinich. I disagree with him on a lot of things, but I used to think he had the most principles in Congress. Maybe he should quit before he loses his soul.

Wistah, this bill sucks. It's that simple. Businesses, or industries, will just pass on these taxes. So while the gubmit will get the revenue from a 2.3% tax on devices, it's the consumers who will give that 2.3%, plus a fee, to the companies in the first place.
Wow, from 7 years to 12 years for Big Pharma. LOL. Anyone ever wonder why there is a CVS, Walgreens, or Rite-aid going up at every intersection, or mile marker on a major highway? D-R-U-G-S. It's nice to see that these companies will be able to murder the system for an additional 5 years with their bloated prices for prescription medication.
Think about those 30+ million we're now going to pay insurance for. How many of those people are on the lower end of the proverbial totem pole? How many of those people will go to the doctor and get medication for everything from their hurt feelings, to the anxiety they claim to have, to the cholestoral problem that exists from the daily Burger King they eat. Nice! Think of all those new adicts the gubmit (i.e. you and me Joe Taxpayer) is going to pay them to treat. Imagine if Amnesty passes and another 20 million or so free loaders are given an all-you-can-treat card to the local hospital, while nothing has been done to curb the costs of the actual care. RIP America.
Meanwhile, unions are still exempt. Nice! Nebraska doesn't pay what Mass has to. Nice! The IRS, and it's soon to be hired 16,500 new agents, will decide whether or not my "coverage" is sufficient, and if not, can audit me at any time. Nice!
Papers please.

"The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him." Leo Tolstoy, 1897
The next item on the agenda is giving amnesty to illegal aliens, so another 30 mill on the government dole.... that hasn't been factored into the cost YET.
