Default Health Care Bill..Let me see if I have this right....

As I write this, it appears that the Democrats have the needed 216 votes to pass the legislation. However, if they pass the exact bill that the Senate passed on Christmas Eve, it could go to the President to be signed into law.
However, since there are changes, they are voting on slightly different legislation. therefore, once passed, it goes back to the Senate to be reconciled and if the Senate passes it exactly, it then goes to the President for signature. If so, it may not be a done deal of fait accompli depending on the changes in the Senate.
But the House is also voting on a second piece of legislation, the 'fix' to correct some of the goodies in the bill. Am I correct so far???
Assuming it passes, I have two questions about the logistics of the enactment. Since it allows older dependents, up to age 26 to be on their parents plan, will it be an addition to the family plan, increasing the rate for all family plans since there are now more people in the pool or will there be a new class of 'adult dependent" when the parent who wants them covered pays a separate premium for each of the adult dependent?
Secondly, has anyone heard whether there will be any protections to prevent people from jumping on and off the coverage depending on whether they need treatment? What I mean is someone who decides to pay the penalty (2% of income IIRC) rather than the higher premium but decides to get coverage when he rips up his knee and needs surgery. Will they have a waiting period like the Feds do for flood insurance so people don't just sign up when the creek is rising and they know they will lose everything in 2 days.. If they don't put restrictions in, they will effectively raise rates if people know there is no need to sign up if they can get coverage in the ambulance on the way to the hospital....The costs will fall on those responsible people who chose to continuously have coverage.

The House is voting on the Senate bill as is and also on their on package of further amendments. The President will sing the Senate bill and the House amendments will be sent to the Senate to be acted on.

So the Cornhusker kickback and the Louisiana Purchase and the N Dakota goodies become law and we have to trust the Senate to write them out in the new bill.....
Good luck with that........
Thanks...

The only thing that will become law is the Senate version. The "Fixes" that the House will pass are all going to be thrown out by the Senate Parlamentarian because they do not have to do with "budgetary items" per the KKK rule. So any "fixes" they want to make would have to pass the 60 vote filibuster.

So the only think that will become law is the Senate Bill, complete with the Lousiana Purchase, the Cornhuster Kickback, and all those other goodies.......

Don't forget that the Unions are also exempt from the cadillac tax until 2018.

We continue to allow Union members to exhaust unemployment benefits
while working on the side year after year and they do not have to pay the cadillac tax until 2018.

No-one actually knows because no-one knows the details of the super secret bill but I am assuming a "family policy" will remain that and all our policies will be increased, a small amount, accordingly as the average number of people of such policies will be increased some.

I think it's fairly clear that you can jump in and out as you wish. That was brought up and the penalty for non coverage was raised a little but it still leaves a huge loophole.

Yeah, the hits just keep on coming (keeping up with the song theme). Not too mention they just created some new 16,000 jobs..... In the IRS. Big brother just got bigger to ensure it can keep it's greasy paws in our pockets. Nice.
