Sounds like a compromise is near, and hopefully this conundrum can get resolved.. looks like a bi partisan effort to resolve this need. Does not say where they will go, but will probably be spread out among the Federal Prison system, as the overall prison count is down..
The deal would put the alleged mastermind of the attacks of 9/11, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, his fellow plotters and other top terror suspects before revamped military commissions, rather than in civilian trials.
The White House is nearing a deal with a bipartisan group of senators to close the Guantanamo Bay prison and pave the way for more detainees to be tried before military commissions, a move that would reverse a signature Obama administration security policy.
The deal would put the alleged mastermind of the attacks of September 2001, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, his fellow plotters and other top terror suspects before revamped military commissions, rather than in civilian trials as the Obama administration had sought. These courts would offer defendants more rights than they had under the Bush administration, but fewer than they would be afforded in civilian court.

Surprised nobody posted to this ... it's a rather good scenario that makes the best of an otherwise ugly and near impossible to please many people kind of situation. I really don't care what other countries think of Gitmo ... but I think we have a great need to move on from that situation. We have too many domestic issues that need our attention and this is one that gets in the way.
It's about time they belong in a real prison like the KKK, Arians, Crips, Bloods and Hells Angels are in, there was picture of the Gitmoians yesterday on the news laying around in the sun laughing and playing Soccer.
Good work President Jug Ears put the bastards in with the Skinheads they'll show em some good old fashioned American Jihad.
