I think this is a great idea. Cigarette taxes disproportionately affect the poor and it's about time poor people started paying their fair share.

Rhode Island has the highest tax at $3.46 per pack.

We should just make it $5 per pack ... pretty soon pot will be cheaper.

Problem of course is mor taxes does not lead to reduced deficits it usually means more government pork jobs.
