The Tea Party convention is being held, and there are Tea Partiers outside protesting the Tea Partiers inside... they opened up and somehow forgot the flag and the pledge of allegiance... they also forgot to invite anyone who was non white, as there was only one person of color... power to the people..
BTW aren't these the people who want to pass an amendment about defacing the flag, even though we have an existing enforceable flag code, and they use a defaced flag to make their point... isn't that defacing the flag???
It sounds like it is trying to appeal to the religious extremists...
Of course Tancredo chose to endear himself to all of the minorities of this country.. guess there is a deep seated belief that just appealing to the white religious white folks will allow for folks to get elected..good thing that the Alabama literacy test is still hanging around on the internet..
Quote:
Every year, the liberal Dems and the RINO Republicans turned up the temperature ever so slightly. It seemed after awhile that we'd all be boiled to death in a cauldron of the nanny state.
And then something really odd happened -- mostly because we do not have a civics literacy test before people can vote in this country.
People who cannot even spell the word "vote," or say it in English -- [applause] -- put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House. Name is Barack Hussein Obama.
The convention's first day lacked the orchestrated staging of most modern political events. The convention host delivered a meandering welcome speech without notes, saying he misplaced them. Former congressman Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.) offered a fiery defense of Judeo-Christian faith and traditional American values, but there was no prayer or Pledge of Allegiance to open the convention -- nor was there an American flag in the convention hall. (Skoda blamed the oversight on the hotel staff.)
Mark Skoda of the Memphis Tea Party, who has been handling media requests for the past week or so for the event, made a firebrand speech. “We are silent no more,” he said to thunderous applause. He criticized those who call Tea Partiers racists. (This reporter saw and interviewed just one African American, a Southern preacher -- friendly with controversial former Southern Baptist preacher Rick Scarborough. Scarborough, now head of a group called Vision America, led the convention in prayer yesterday and headed a breakout session today on why Christians need to be more politically active. He’s also author of “Liberalism is Killing Kids” and “Enough is Enough: A practical guide to political action; Plus: Why Christians Must Engage.”)

Minorities are welcome, they choose not to go, most all are democrats, it's like fans at Figure Skating Events, minorities choose not to attend, THAT IS THEIR RIGHT, THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE.

According to their opening keynote speaker not only are they "not welcome" to attend the convention they are not welcome to even cast a presidential vote.
The opening speaker at the first National Tea Party Convention called President Obama a "committed Socialist ideologue" who was elected because "we do not have a civics, literacy test before people can vote."
"You have launched the counter-revolution," the speaker, former Rep. Tom Tancredo (R-Colo.), told 600 or so delegates of the grassroots movement assembled at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in Nashville Wednesday night. "It is our nation.
"People who could not even spell the word 'vote' or say it in English put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House," he said.
Tancredo, a failed 2008 presidential candidate, made his reputation as a rabid foe of illegal immigrants. The literacy tests he pined for were once used in the South to keep blacks from voting.

WOW! Can they spell doomed. Heck, why didn't they insult the hispanics while they were at it. I think most people on this forum would welcome a third party to battle the Coke or Pepsi, this one isn't it.

It just goes to show that the Teabaggers are to a significant degree a white-rights party. It's scary stuff.

I don't agree with anything Tancredo brings to the table, but I in the
news clips I have read and seen, he did not say "Minorities are not
welcome to attend".
If he did say it, I missed it... please post a link to confirm that statement.
If the tea party just bring attention to the defecit, they serve their
purpose.
The Ross Perot "United we stand" crowd did not last long.
I have a feeling the Tea Party will not last the test of time.
The Tea Party's will come and go, they are 'frustrated people' trying to hang on to the "Patriotic, Law And Order Common Sense America" it is a losing battle, a Third World Type of government is fast moving in, 50 years from now this country will be a Banana Republic there will be millions of people unable to communicate with each other for the screwball loon notion of not having a Common Language, crime will run rampant just as it does in all Third Worlds, under the new "gangster government" the poor liberals that created it will be the first to go, the new leaders would never tolerate their feel good *****.
I'm afraid the Tea Partys are America's last hurrah, The Illegal Aliens, Hollywood, MTV, MSNBC, The Gang Bangers, The Hookers, The Drug Dealers, The Junkies, The Left Wing Schools And The New Pelosi Democrats they will be your New America you can see it coming, in the end the criminal element will take over just as it does in all Third Worlds, racial violence will once again return to the streets of America not White/Black racism but third world racism the different cultures will clash for dominance, the most savage, the most ruthless will rule, all this started by politically correct slobbering moonbat liberals.
The one “evil thing” that could save the country is a Muslim Takeover, they would line up all those crazy left wing Pelosi democrats and Hollywood Wife Swappers on Pennsylvania Avenue and hold a National TV “Beheading Day”
I’m glad I’ll be long gone when all this ***** goes down.

I agree to a great extent w/the characterization of the Dems and Pubbies as coke/pepsi, or perhaps coke and diet coke, with sugar and acids representing perpetuation and exaccerbation of the existing class divides. The pubbies say it's a good thing and we need more of it, and from time to time bring out "New Coke" with even more sugar and acid in it. The Dems say "no no no all that sugar is killing us, but let's be real, the acids and preservatives may rot your teeth but that takes a long time. We can live with that."
What we need in terms of an alternative is, let's say -- WATER, for Christ's sake, the one thing in Coke you actually need.
But you can't freaking sell water.
So what we ended up with is what we used to call a "suicide," where you take a cup and hit the successive levers on the soda fountain. Then to extend the metaphor, a big table-jar full of sugar poured in.
To be less metaphorical about it, this is why I say the Dems are pretty much as good as you'll get in the US, and the pubbies, though a bit worse, are at least somewhat coherent (if evil.) The "alternative" is just mindless rightist jingoistic mayhem.

Did not see on any of the major news outlets where the keynote speaker mentioned those inflammatory remarks. That would have been headline news. Did read the link where he had voiced opinions on those matters when he ran for the Presidential office (literacy test to vote).BTW, I was in the fifth grade when my teacher mentioned that piece of history. It was wrong then, and still is wrong. I do believe a fifth grader could argue that point due to it's elementary nature.
