Default Man acquitted of killing girlfriend and 8 month old fetus arrested again for murder !

Notorious suspect arrested - BostonHerald.com

Quote:
A man acquitted in 2004 of butchering and burying his 14-year-old Dorchester girlfriend and her 8-month-old fetus was arrested early yesterday morning in connection with a killing in Brockton.
Wow... If Chuck Stewart did not jump, he should have hired this guys lawyer..... Then again, why do I get the feeling we picked up the
tab for his lawyer.

Quote:
He was acquitted despite his confession to police that he was at the crime scene.

In a tape recording played in court, Bryant told police he stood by “like a dummy” and watched his friend beat and repeatedly stab Jones in 1999, even as his under-aged paramour repeatedly cried for help. Her final plea of “Kyle, I love you,” was punctuated with a rock to her head, he told cops.

She was discovered 20 days after the attack, dead in a grave dug on the grounds of the old Boston State Hospital in Mattapan.
How did this scumbag get off?

Quote:
Bryant later told police he was not at the crime scene and that Hampton killed Jones as a favor since Bryant was facing statutory rape charges for getting the teenager pregnant.
I would love to know why the jury acquitted him.

I would love to know why the jury acquitted him.
I was wondering the same thing myself so I did a little research.

In the 1999 murder, Bryant did not actually attack the victim, his pregnant 14 year old girlfiend. He simply (allegedly) stood by and watched (although the individual who did do the stabbing said Bryant joined in burying her). According to Massachusetts law, that makes him just as liable as the individual who did the actual stabbing. However, the jury believed his taped confession was coerced and forced, and they believed him when he later recanted his story, saying he was not present as there was no physical evidence placing him at the scene.

Obviously I disagree with that jury's verdict and please do not take the above as an attempt to excuse their disgusting actions. But that is why they let him go.
