no not a headline from NY or LA Times or even the Washington Post, but found on Newsmax and World Net, the former Reaganite economist, who authored Reaganomics writes how GWB has abandoned his Conservative principals and is alienating the conservative core of the republican party. I wonder if Karl Rove and Libby are the overrated political hacks he is referring to??
He lays it out starkly: "I believe there are gathering cloud of risk in the economy – the housing bubble, international imbalances, and such – that could bring a flood of trouble at a moment’s notice. When one of these problems reaches storm strength and brings on a market crash, such as those in 1987 and 1989, I believe the political climate will change overnight. All of a sudden there will be no more talk of tax cuts, but of budget deals and tax increases.”
He lays this gloomy prospect at the feet of Bush, who he says has failed to properly utilize the traditional path of policy development, ignoring the advice of experts on the economy and "has driven away and even humiliated the few intellectuals in his midst, preferring instead the company of overrated political hacks whose main skills seem to be an ability to say ‘yes’ to whatever he says and to ignore the obvious.”

"overrated political hacks"- that is a great summary. We see it in those they sent to do Iraq reconstruction. Those they allowed to write the prescription drug act. The energy policy. FEMA. Mine safety. USDA. etc etc etc etc
No experience other than loyalty to party before country.

I backed Bush in both elections mostly because of the type of people that opposed him (social do-gooding far left liberals).
I am now becoming very dissapointed in him, he acts as though he is going insane, he leaves the borders open for the Illegal Alien Criminals and now he along with that Liberal mush head Jimmy Carter and the White Trash Bill Clinton want to let Arab Muslims run our seaports.
The democrats went Hollywood and left me years ago, now Bush is leaving me and turning into a madman.
I don't think I'll ever vote again, all I can do is sit and wait to be blown up by a screaming greasy savage yelling "praise god".
This is me

Harry Boy, your reasoning for supporting Bush would make sense if there were only ever two sides to an issue. But we live in a complex world and sometimes you find that it's possible for two sides to hate each other and both be equally wrong. No matter how the saying goes, the enemy of your enemy is not always your friend.
Also, as much as you would hate to admit it, I bet if you and Jimmy Carter sat down and talked, you'd find there are at least one or two issues you do agree on. You'll disagree on more than you'll agree, no doubt, but I've yet to meet a person who is always 100% wrong or always 100% right.

Pujo, your getting smarter everyday, I did agree with Carter once, he said "he sometimes lusts for women other than his wife"
