Welfare Facts

Activists say Welfare is caused by lack of jobs, but in
fact, largest cause is creation of a fatherless family by birth or

affordable day care is not the major problem.

The most common occurences that result in going ON welfare

45% Divorce / Separation
30% Child born to unmarried woman
12% Earnings of mother fall
10% Other reasons
3% Earnings of others in family fall

75% Divorce, Separation, or Unmarried Birth

The most common occurences that result in going OFF welfare
35% Marriage
11% Children leave home
21% Earnings of mother increase
5% Earnings of others in family increase
14% Other benefits increase
14% Other reasons

46% Marriage or children leave home

It seems pretty clear that marriage and the maintenance of the nuclear family is the key to keeping/getting people off welfare...
Do you believe that a study published 12 years ago is salient to this discussion...that was right after the sweeping welfare reform bill was passed..

Encourage you to keep googling, should come up with something to prove yoru point..

How would you respond if I posted a response from Huffington Post and Mother Jones???..

Keep googling though, there must be something out there that can help prove your point.

I posted one that might be considered current from the Washington Post dated 2-2-2010 in another thread. Maybe we should find a more current one from this afternoon?

As I remind myself, keep an open mind. That goes for everyone.

The OP may as well have been from that sort of source. The people who did the 'stuy' had an agenda. Iposted the critique so people can make their won evaluation.

I'm glad someone brought this up; I mentioned the rise of teen pregnancies awhile ago in relation to something else but regardless, I hate to see this circle the drain as simply a partisan issue. Or even a pro-choice/ pro-life issue.

Remember Bebe Gloton, the world's first breastfeeding doll that made the news here in the US? The ad shows a little girl maybe about 10(?) wearing a vest with a flower that functioned as a nipple and came with a doll that suckled the flower/breast on the little girl's vest/chest.

Point being, when that sort of bizarre item came out, people made it about all kinds of issues including breast-feeding vs bottle-feeding ( which shows you just how far things can be spun lol) but the bottom line really wasn't addressed. The bottom line being the sexualization of children, specifically little/young girls. Jon Benet Ramsey, that scene hasn't gone away by a long shot. "Little Miss Perfect" and "Toddlers and Tiaras" are current reality tv shows and I don't know who among us wouldn't be just a little creeped out on some level by this whole phenomenon which is what's a the real bottom of the rise in teenage pregnancies.

Great article and the ad for Bebe Gloton: Spanish Toy Maker Introduces World's First Breastfeeding Doll? ¿YQué? - The Unnecesarean -

This has to do with ****ty parents not politics ... I dont blame the Dems or Repub's for this. Personal responsibility is diminishing because parents don't want to be the "bad guy" and discipline their kids

It is Bristol's fault..... and when someone is that young than it is the parents fault so yes Sarah can be partially blamed.
