It's a bad thing when people identify with their national identity more than their common identity as human beings. National pride and patriotism are not the same things as nationalism.

You gotta wonder why more of the self-proclaimed "conservatives" on this board just don't care about such things. Maybe they gave up on trying to defend liberty, justice, and the american way. They appear to be liking Bush's version of conservatism much better: no fourth amendment, no first amendment, no congresional oversight, screw the constitution.

Now, Rove tells them to jump and they all ask "how high?" And they ask why we call them brainwashed sheep.

I wonder if anyone still knows that ultra-nationalism is the same as fascism. I wonder if the chimp fans realize what they're supporting? I know how they feel, clinging to a belief that no longer is real, Cconservative constitutionalism. the intent of the founders feels like a distant dream sometimes.
