Hey one of my best friends is captain in the Air Force reserve and also a realtor, I guess that a stupid billboard qualifies him to be a senator also.

Democrats can't resist a military leader who will lead them from battle

What it means is that if there is anyone with any time in service who spouts a liberal line (particularly an anti-war line), Democrats glom on to that person. A classic example is John Murtha. He served in the Marine Corps for a few years, then spent a bunch of time in the reserves. When he proposed an immediate withdrawal from Iraq, he was everybody's war hero all of a sudden. Wesly Clark, same thing. John Kerry, same thing. It doesn't matter how intelligent they are or what their policies might be -- the fact that they are liberal and have military experience automatically makes them more credible to Democrats than anyone on the other side of the isle.
Sure, your friend the reservist and realtor can be a Senator, we have a drunk and failed businessman as President.
MASS has a drunk for a senator Virginia has a KKK Kleegle Wizard Cross Burner for a senator and we have an ex president that put out a contract on a womens cat and had the cat whacked because she was going to tell that he grabbed her t!ts in the White House.
I suspect you had a bit of a head start. I elaborated on why in the Bases in Iraq thread.
Well, I was biased against Bush's conservative agenda, but I won't cut off my nose to spite my face if you know what I mean. If I agree with Bush on something, I'm not going to disagree with it because I hate something else of his. You don't know me well enough to give me that much credit, but I judge things on their merit.

Putting him next to the two draft dodgers running this country, who can't wait to send men to die when they did everything other than smoke pole to get themselves excused, and you're damn right.
