Okay, even though none of us are exclusively liberal or conservative, I think each of us has a clear leaning. So, just out of curiosity, if you had to sign up for one team, which one would it be?

I'm a liberal-leaning Libertarian.

That is to say I support liberal social causes and conservative fiscal causes, but think the social causes are more important. I also part ways with paleo-conservatives and libertarians in that I believe certain industries like military, police, and roads should be run by the government under a natural monopoly.

I am a way far to the right ultra-conservative, which this current administration is far from being, sometimes it comes down to the people who you think will do less harm than actual good for the country in a whole.

I'm sort of 75% Conservative, 25% Libertarian but am somehow pro gun control.

I tilt so far to the right I'm almost horizontal. But I'm honest about it.

Us Liberals prefer the term Post-911 Progressives, well actually we don't really have a thing for labels as such.

Progressive is totally misleading. How can you be "progressive" and yet want to keep social security equal to putting money under your mattress ? Bush is the progressive on this issue. Clearly.

In all seriousness, you can't think there's some kind of gigantic mattress down at the Social Security office right? As it is the investors so to speak do get a decent return thats as solid as the existance of America is. Zero risk is nothing to just dismiss if you ask me. Lets not forget about the massive handout to Enronish money managers privatising the trust fund will result in.

If you're that interested in Privatizing Social Security, just give Warren Buffet a call and toss him a couple of dollars . You'll get your increased dividends and the people who have no clue about how the stock market works won't have to jump off ledges every time the NASDAQ takes a plunge.

I want to invest my own money how I want, thank you. I would be willing to pay half of what I do now in SS and get nothing out if I could just keep the other 50% to do with as I wish.
