Both FTW and I accept that occasionally people will lose their cool, but for the last few days this forum has looked more like Interleague Forum than a forum for political discussion. If you don't have anything intelligent to say, then don't say it. Your attacks diminish the forum, insult the more serious participants, and do damage to the political point of view that you represent.

If you're offended, bothered, or otherwise distressed by the political comments of some of the posters, either ignore those comments or skip the forum for a few days until you calm down. If these attacks continue, people will get suspended.

Can we apply those same rules to the actual topic of the thread itself. How many Bush is a (insert your favorite name here) threads does there need to be? Then we have the conspiracy nut that thinks Oreos are attacking his glass of milk. Seriously how do you not expect people to call him on that? Then he asks me if I have video of the "claims" that my friend made while telling me of his experiences during his time with the recovery efforts at the Pentagon. Now I ask you what has Cowgirl contributed to this political forum other then whacked out theories of what his version of the truth is, not to mention p!ssing on the graves of the 3,000 that died on that dreadfull day?

I assume I am one of the people that this thread is reffering to, so with that said I cannot just let some things go by with out a comment. Mikey starts these "? more soldiers dead" and you stand by that by saying he is supporting the troops and then when "actual" soldiers and recently departed Vets come on here and state that that is not supporting the troops in anyway; We are called brainwashed, neo-cons, troop killers and a host of other derogatory names, now does that sound like support for the troops to you?

I think Patters is right. We all go overboard (well not all), often insulating other posters. We should all agree to refrain from this.

The freedom of speech is just that. Freedom to say and write things you may not agree with, you may be completely offended by, but that doesn't give one the right to attack anyone for saying it. Opinion is abound in here, facts not so much. Lets try to stick to what others have written and stick to attackign the messages rather than the messengers.

I'll bite my tongue from insulting other posters (in retaliation for them insulting me), but I have no reservations about insulting those in power or their blockhead propagandists (Limbaugh: the fat ass druggie- the Goebbels of our time).

Nobody should call anyone troop killers or troop haters, anti-american, or the like. Even Limbaugh, chickenhawk that he is, couldn't be accurately called un-American. He's just the lowest form of American.

Whoa ....

Number 1: When I posted the threads about the number of soldiers who died in the war, I never made any comment to suggest whether I supported the troops or not. I just posted the link without any comment.

Number 2: Patter never stated, suggested, or insinuated that I supported the troops (or not).

I would appreciate it if you can show me just one post that contradicts what I just wrote.

No, but you used to put the total number of the fallen in the post which p!ssed a few of us off.

Patters did in fact state that you were showing support for the troops, you don't remember the thread in which we all had this argument? It is too old to find on the board now because of the lost threads, but since that thread I don't believe you have posted the total number of the fallen. I will try and google it.

mgcolby, actually you're not one of the people I'm referring to. It doesn't mean you haven't made any personal attacks, it just means I haven't noticed them!

We don't want to censor political opinions, even unpopular ones. Just because Cowgirl is conspiracy minded, doesn't mean we should judge his posts. Just because Mikey accuses the right wing of killing the troops (and I'm taking your word for it that he does), doesn't mean that's inappropriate for this forum. In fact, if someone here ever posted a defense of Osama bin Laden, I would resist even censoring that, because it would be better if that person was ostracized by the group at large. What we do want to stop is personal attacks and blatant bigotry that might alienate Patriots fans from the patsfans website.

It's my impression that over the last week, the name calling has gotten worse. Both FTW and I let a lot of name calling fly, but when people start threads that are nothing more than personal attacks or when threads devolve into tit-for-tat name calling, we try to do what we can to calm things down a bit. In a forum like this, where our deeply held convictions differ, there's bound to be a time when someone loses it, and I think we're pretty tolerant overall.

The goal of the moderators is to prevent things from spiraling out of control to the point that people are actually leaving Patsfans (which according to Ian has happened) and to create a forum that's especially for those of us who want to talk issues, not smack.

Moderator Patters,
I Post Things That Liberals And New Democrats Don't Like.

I Very Seldom If Ever Call Anyone A Name.

It Is The Civil Liberty Constitution Thumping Left Wing Liberal That Does All The "name Calling".

How Do You Know This Person That Sees Things In The Night Sky Is A "male"? I Hope Your Not "sterotyping" Only Us Righties Are Supposed To Do That.

The Handle Has "girl" In It.
