Food Stamp cards (they give them Debit cards now) are a great source of income. Go to any bodega in NYC, and they will give you 30-50 cents on the dollar for your swipe. The entire social welfare model needs to be thrown out. Get the government out of the social welfare business altogether.

Charities will take over and run social wlefare programs much cheaper, more effectively, and with much less fraud, then the current government run systems.

I guarentee you that more tax dollars are spent on administration and fraud for welfare, medicaid, & food stamps programs, than actually go to the poor.

Aside from everyone that I have arrested for it, the government will admit that 2% of all money spent on food stamps is lost to fraud, now add the budget for running the department of agriculture then the state and then local government agencies that administer the food stamp programs locally, and triple the 2% figure to the actual fraud figure (which is probably still a little low) and I bet you come close to the amount that goes to the poor.

So true. There is a great organization here in Nashville called the Nashville Rescue Mission. It feeds, houses and educates the homeless and does so for pennies on what it would cost the government.

They get no money from the government, simply through charitable donations.

I fine example of how charities can take over and run social welfare much cheaper, more efficiently and more effectively.
