They've always bought guns, they buy them in the school yard, when they use them and get caught a liberal SCREWBALL Mass judge turns them loose, then they run right down to the school yard and buy another one.
LAW ABIDING CITIZENS ARE BUYING AND REGISTERING THEIR GUNS BECUASE [sic] THEY ARE AFRAID OF OBAMA, HIS CZARS AND THOSE LUNATIC LAP DOGS THAT TROT ALONG BEHIND THAT BIG TOOTHED MONSTER PELOSI, THE LEGAL GUN SURGE, THE GROWING MILITIA'S AND THE GROWING TEA PARTYS[sic] ARE ALL THE RESULTS OF THE POP CULTURE, BUSH HATERS, POLITICALLY CORRECT SAPS ELECTING THEIR SWEET TALKING SOCIALIST POSTER BOY.
LAW ABIDING CITIZENS ARE AFRAID, WE HAVE A WIMP FOR A PRESIDENT.
THE PEOPLE WILL TAKE THEIR COUNTRY BACK YOU CAN BET ON IT.
If this is parody posting then you are a genius if not this is ad-hominem bs. Just because some people are buying guns for this purpose does not mean that the majority of recent gun purchasers are looking to revolt. Show me a legitimate poll wherein a group of Americans large enough to challenge the military states that they want to foment revolution and radical regime change in the US and I will believe you.
Ps. If not parody-posting why the caps they add nothing to your point.

At least 14% of crimes committed which involved a gun involved guns which were legally bought. 80% of gun carrying criminals reported they got their guns from friends, family, street buys, theft, and other illegal means. How many of those guns taken from friends and family do you think were registered weapons? At least some of them, I'm sure. Same for those bought on the street. Most of the stolen weapons were probably legal guns as well.
Interestingly enough - for all those people who buy a gun "to protect themselves" there were only 225 cases of justifiable homicide (when a citizen kills a felon during the commission of a criminal offense} in the entire United States in 2002. And only 184 of them involved a citizen with a gun.
Great, punish the mass because of a few rotten apples. You can't take away freedoms just because some abuse them. Just because some as*hole steals a gun and commits a crime shouldn't interfere with my right to buy/own a firearm.
This logic is anti-freedom yet is commonplace in this country. The prohibition, illegality of drugs, illegality of prostitution, the FCC, seatbelt laws, life jacket laws, public decency laws (man can go shirtless but woman can't, etc), handicapped laws, business regulations, etc etc. This country has become "Freedom of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness BUT, UNLESS, and EXCEPT FOR...".

Update: Well that didn't work out as I had planned. Next year baby, next year 19-0 we go. Next year.

Well the stipulation to our freedoms has always been that your are free up until the point that you hurt other people. In any case is a well-regulated militia really nowadays necessary to the freedom and security of our state? If not what is your justification for having guns available? It is anti-freedom in the sense that we do not live in an anarchy, but rather that there are limits to personal choice. Do you decry murder laws as well?

What has a well regulated militia have to do with my right to own a firearm?
Being able to defend oneself is a God given right. Having a gun to do so is protected by the Constitution. The Supreme Court ruled last year that the 2nd amendment does protect individual's right to own firearms.
Quote:
District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. ___ (2008) is a landmark legal case in which the Supreme Court of the United States held that the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution protects an individual's right to possess a firearm for private use in federal enclaves. A ruling on states has yet to be made. It is the first Supreme Court case in United States history to directly address whether the right to keep and bear arms is a right of individuals in addition to a collective right that applies to state-regulated militias
McDonald v. Chicago will be heard next year to see if the 2nd amendment is to be incorporated via the 14th amendment.
Criminals need to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. We don't need more laws, we need better enforcement. Laws mean nothing if judges just release criminals without proper sentence. Making more laws aimed at legal gun owners is nothing more then feel good legislation. It's not the legal owners you need to worry about. It's the criminals, who do not pay attention to the laws anyway.

Please go read District of Colombia v. Heller ...... then go read the federalist papers before you try determining what the 2nd Amendment means.

Good example of an activist Supreme Court interpreting the 2nd Amendment in a new way. I suppose the founders threw in the word "militia" for the heck of it, since obviously according to the current right-wing activist Supreme Court it has no real bearing on the meaning of the second amendment.
Also, since you apparently have read the Federalist Papers, why not indicate which specific ones you want read? Also do you believe in the Federalist Papers, are against the Bill of Rights? Was that your point? My own suspicion is you're throwing out a right wing talking point without knowing what you're talking about. That's a dangerous thing to do.

The orginal understanding of the word "militia" from the Federalist Papers was "all of the people"...it was never understood as the military arm of government
also did you read the dissent in the Heller decision .... it was one of the worst dissent's ever written and had no factual evidence to back up statements made so try again.

I certainly read about the Heller decision, and am aware that some conservatives criticized the dissent on various grounds, but that's to be expected. As far as the federalist papers go, which one are you referring to? Besides, Hamilton was against the Bill of Rights, so it seems odd to use those papers to defend gun rights. Also, the issue debated in the Federalist Papers was whether or not we need a standing army or would such an army turn against the people. If you don't trust the military, then the 2nd Amendment has greater meaning.
I might add, I have no problem with gun rights, but I also have no problems with problem areas restricting those rights in an attempt to save lives and give police an upper hand. We're living in vastly different times than our founders did.
You are all aware that most of the gun hysteria is being fueled by the gun industry.. they want you to buy more, not because of any real threat.. but is their way of ramping up business... that is all.
Have yet to see anything that suggests that there are any moves in DC to control guns... all of this is fabricated hysteria and hyperbole...
