In its latest attempt to portray Democrats' reform package as an unwieldy expansion of federal government in the health care sector, the House Republican Conference circulated what it called a list of "new boards, bureaucracies, commissions and programs" created in the House health care bill.

They need them to collect our penatiy and taxes. 2010 is going to be a busy for tax collectors and ObamaCARE enforcers.

Does that number impress you? To me it's meaningless unless you know how many bureacracies the US government currently has using the same measurement approach. Saying Obama has created 111 new bureaucracies would be like saying the military has created 111 new units. I have no idea if that number is big, small, or just right. If you can get that other info, you'll have an interesting post. Otherwise, for me anyway, it's meaningless.

It's beyond meaningless, it's mendacious. Look at the link to the actual "Beaurocracies." Half of them say "grant for..." etc., meaning grant dollars were assigned to achieve x, y, or z.

Dollars don't sit at desks (bureaux). The existing bureaucracy is almost certainly expected to handle a great number of these programs.

This is almost as much fun as "look! A 2000-page bill!"

Every damn bill is a matter of meaningless quantification of pages, or false counts of "new beaureaucracies" to these bozos.
