Default Rumsfeld Should Have Stayed Silent

From FOXNEWS:

Rumsfeld Cries Foul on Obama Claim Troop Requests for Afghanistan Were Denied

Former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Wednesday lashed out at President Obama for claiming the Bush administration rebuffed commanders' repeated requests for more troops in Afghanistan.

In a rare break in his public silence since leaving the Pentagon, Rumsfeld rejected the claim as a "bald misstatement" and "disservice" that cannot go unanswered.

"Such a bald misstatement, at least as it pertains to the period I served as secretary of defense, deserves a response," Rumsfeld said in a written statement. "I am not aware of a single request of that nature between 2001 and 2006."

Maybe he forgot he left office before Bush did - maybe he should have checked his calendar before "answering." Or maybe he should have just checked PolitiFact.

Several requests for additional troops were made by the previous top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, Gen. David McKiernan, during President George W. Bush's final year in office.

McKiernan made his requests public in a press conference in September 2008 in Afghanistan, saying he needed at least three more combat brigades, in addition to the one Bush had promised in January. He said more soldiers and resources were needed to stabilize insurgencies in Afghanistan.

"The danger is that we'll be here longer and we'll expend more resources and experience more human suffering than if we had more resources placed against this campaign sooner," McKiernan told reporters.

"The additional military capabilities that have been asked for are needed as quickly as possible," he said.

McKiernan said then that the Pentagon validated his formal request for additional troops, and that his request dated back to when he replaced his predecessor four months prior.

In a news briefing at the Pentagon on Oct. 1, 2008, McKiernan reiterated his call for more troops — "the level of effort needs to be increased" — and said he was hoping to see a shift of assets from Iraq to Afghanistan.

"Bald misstatement," indeed.

Bush Leaguers just can not help themselves and just S T F U, can they? Whenever their lies get exposed, they have to return to the public stage and continue the lie.

Rumsfeld's yawning over the CIA's requests at Tora Bora are well-documented at this point. Everyone knows he ignored his generals' requests too.

It's funny that Rumsfeld and Cheney still talk in public as if they aren't complete jokes.

They should just hide in quiet shame the rest of their lives.

They aren't lying if they believe what they're saying...that just makes them idiots.

I didn't come up with that i heard it used four of five years ago to explain that these guys Bush Cheney Rumy, and Wolfowitz don't lie because they believe what they're saying. From what i can remember it was going to be their defense if ever brought up on charges of lying to congress. I guess that means they're pretty much lying all the time.

It's used, but it's complete crap.

The case that proves their fraud was willful, premeditated and systematic is vast beyond surface comprehension. There is so much overlapping evidence that proves they knew exactly what they were doing, it's really beyond any logical dispute.

The books Hubris, Blood Money and Shock Doctrine immediately come to mind. Testimony from CIA, governmental documents, foreign heads of state, factual timelines, etc.. ... If you don't have time to read over 1000 pages on their willful fraud, just watch any of the dozen or so PBS Frontline reports, such as "Darkside" or "Rumsfeld's War."

The absolute lack of humanity, the evilness really, that exists and has existed for years and years within our elected officials is so hard to comprehend. I heard Cheney's name being tossed around for 2012 LOL. Mind boggling that somehow someway these war criminals and murderers got on our POTUS list.

And they're still being excused by our present administration. To this very day we still don't know the real truth about JFK's assination (35 years ago?) so what makes us think the truth about 9/11 or Afghanistan or anything else for at LEAST another 35 years.

And the beat goes on. "Do you ever wish you'd taken the blue pill?"
