Interesting story in Worldnet this AM, apparently Breitbart has more videos of alleged wrongdoing by ACORN and is threatening Holder to investigate ACORN and if he does not then they will surface in time for the 2010 midterms...
IF this is a vanguard for a new political method, then we have all been double flushed and their is little hope for an election that has to do with issues instead reverting to sensationalism..
They have already stopped their funding, which is probably illegal, but the actions of Breitbart sounds like blackmail...
What continues to astound is that ACORN has not been convicted of any wronigdoing based on the videos... and as far as can tell there is not even an ongoing investigation on a state level... all the while there is silence on the companies who get billions and have openly defrauded the government... Haliburton, Xe... Wackenhut etc... and there has been no effort to stop their funding..
Andrew Breitbart, whose BigGovernment.com rocked Washington with undercover videos exposing ACORN corruption, has issued U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder an ultimatum: Conduct an investigation into ACORN, or more videos will be released just in time to drop a bombshell on the 2010 elections.
"This message is to Attorney General Holder," Breitbart said on the Fox News network's "Hannity" last night. "I want you to know that we have more tapes, it's not just ACORN, and we're going to hold out until the next election cycle. … If you get into an investigation, we will give you the tapes; if you don't give us the tapes, we will revisit these tapes come election time."
The show's host, Sean Hannity, responded, "This is a blockbuster, what you're saying here. You guys have more tapes, you'll release them before the election – that could have a big impact on the election."

Plus, they've lied - further reducing their credibility.
In making public a video he withheld for more than two months, right-wing activist James O'Keefe finally acknowledged that a Los Angeles ACORN employee "would not assist us obtain a house for our illegal activities" -- an admission that directly contradicts claims by his colleague Hannah Giles that no ACORN employees refused to help them. Moreover, O'Keefe's claim in the video that the Los Angeles employee was the "only" ACORN employee who refused to help is contradicted by the fact that ACORN employees in two other cities contacted the police following their encounters with O'Keefe and Giles
They are doing a great job exposing a criminal enterprise good for them. It isn't blackmail if done in pubic for no personal gain.
Holder has to dragged kicking and screaming to investigate corruption by the left.

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

If you have evidence of wrongdoing, and do not use it then you complicit.. it is called concealing or withholding evidence... if you know of a crime you must report it.. not use it for political gain.
Too bad there is not the same veracity for Xe, Haliburton or Wackenhut to name a few...

But it IS extortion - which is also a crime. (Regardless of if it is done pubicly, privately or publicly.)
Extortion, outwresting, or exaction is a criminal offense which occurs when a person unlawfully obtains either money, property or services from a person, entity, or institution, through coercion.
Neither extortion nor blackmail require a threat of a criminal act, such as violence, merely a threat used to elicit actions, money, or property from the object of the extortion. Such threats include the filing of lawsuits, reports (true or not) of criminal behavior to the police, revelation of damaging facts (such as pictures of the object of the extortion in a compromising position), etc.
Coercion is the practice of forcing another party to behave in an involuntary manner (whether through action or inaction) by use of threats, intimidation, trickery, or some other form of pressure or force.
Breitbart: Oh my goodness there are! Not only are there more tapes, it's not just ACORN. And this message is to Attorney General Holder: I want you to know that we have more tapes, it's not just ACORN, and we're going to hold out until the next election cycle, or else if you want to do a clean investigation, we will give you the rest of what we have, we will comply with you, we will give you the documentation we have from countless ACORN whistleblowers who want to come forward but are fearful of this organization and the retribution that they fear that this is a dangerous organization. So if you get into an investigation, we will give you the tapes; if you don't give us the tapes, we will revisit these tapes come election time.
This could also be construed as a not-so-thinnly-veiled threat to interfere with a federal election.
It is, as Darryll points out, also illegal to withhold information - and if Breitbart has information regarding crimes by ACORN as well as "not just ACORN" he is required, by law, to hand any evidence he has over to the proper authorities.
I think they ought to bust his ***** and charge him with willfully withholding evidence.
These are probably just more cases of right wingers going after a community activist group through using entrapment techniques. ACORN is a huge group and no doubt has some bad apples, but as a percent of its employees, I doubt the numbers are particularly high. Holder should go after Wall Street, not a bunch of low income young people who on rare occasion overstep. This story is about as big as Obama's bow to the Emporer of Japan. Let Breitbart release these tapes in the next election cycle. It'll help mobilize those the left.

Really panicky over the exposing of crimes by a group tied to the President eh.
Wonder when the SEIU will be investigated for beating people who express views they don't like.

Perhaps if precedent had been set in 2000 by launching an investigation into the voting fiasco in Florida, the conservative complaints against ACORN might be treated with a little more respect. But to my knowledge the only precedence that was set in 2000 was not to investigate electoral fraud. Until Breitbart releases his supposed tapes, there's actually no evidence of a crime at all, just spurious claims.

I don't know why they didn't explore the voting fraud practiced against military absentee balots it is a disgrace to deny voting rights to people risking their lived to defend our country. I am also concerned about the allegations that felons and non citizens were allowed to vote these should have been investigated also. Perhaps exposing Acorn will help deter their illegal activities.
