Default Hmm....What's This?

At one time on this board I recommended that anyone interested in the Constitution read "The Heritage Guide To The Constitution" which of course subjected me to "neo-con" comments from some on this board. It is rather heartening to know however that at least some people are reading this book. Look what was on the desk of Sen. Tom Coburn during the Alito confirmation hearings.

Tom Coburn cares about nothing else except getting Roe v Wade overturned and he beleives Alito is the way to accomplish that. He is about as single minded an individual as they come.

If he can find a way to minipulate the words of the constitution to forward that strategy, that is what he'll do. He is a slave to the Christian Coalition.

Here's a quote:

So, the debate, for the American public -- and the real debate here is about Roe.

I don't think that is such a bad thing. As Patrick Buchanan pointed out, the word abortion was brought up in this hearing more than any other word. He sums up the issue more eloquently that I can in this article here.

I'm not an advocate of abortion rights as a form of birth control, but he is one of those people that opposes rights even in rape and incest cases and cases where it will adversly effect the mothers health.

His motives are all about his single minded agenda. That copy of the constitution is there for manipulative purposes only.

Abortion wasn't made illegal until the middle of the 19th century. We should not interpret the Constitution to forbid abortion, as our founders clearly didn't intend it that way. A true originalist would not overturn Roe v. Wade. The conservatives, where convenient, are quite liberal in their interpretation of the Constitution.

Even my wife, who if Coburn had his way he would choose the childs life over hers and I would have no say in the matter. Maybe YOU should read it again.

Life, Liberty and Happiness takes a back seat to the Bible-thumping high and mighty hipocritical right wingers. They beleive we need these unborn children for the Christian army.

How about full withdrawal from Iraq, a ban on abortion AND the Death Penalty?
