Default Patriot Games... Republicans choose Michelle's Tea Party over Nat Security

It goes on and on, guess they all needed another 15 minutes of face time in front of a crowd of 4k, guess that is their priorities.. rally behind Michelle and her insanity..

In the salient and viable words of Real World, it really is Coke or Pepsi...

Patriot Games: GOP Reps Pick Tea Party Rally Over National-Security Votes | TPMMuckraker

Quote:
When it's a choice between strengthening the Patriot Act, or showing up for the Tea Party Patriots, what's a GOP lawmaker to do? We'll give you one guess...

Several Republican members of Congress yesterday blew off votes on the signature anti-terror legislation of the post 9/11 era to attend Michele Bachmann's Tea Party rally against health-care reform.

Reps. Steve King of Iowa, Trent Franks of Arizona, Randy Forbes of Virginia, Jim Jordan of Ohio, and Louie Gohmert and Ted Poe of Texas all took time out yesterday for the "Super Bowl of Freedom," as Bachmann has called it. And all missed votes in the House Judiciary committee on Republican-sponsored amendments to the reauthorization of the Patriot Act -- measures that would have toughened the Act, but narrowly failed. Those votes took place, a committee staffer confirmed, between noon and two -- the very time when Republican lawmakers were rallying the Tea Party troops on the Capitol steps.

You're assuming Obama has a smart diplomatic course, a strategy that could work if given a chance.

Too bad he had no clue about Honduras, where he was apparently blinded by his ideology, when many of these same "teabaggers" or its supports did, such as talk show host Dennis Prager.

Guess it is ok in your book to excuse the excess and the need for 15 mintues of face time of the congress and obfuscate with an Obama comment... it is so typical, no one from the extreme right ever deals with the issue at hand... hijack threads and posts from extreme blogs are the order of the day... lemmings unite.

Excuse my bluntness, but Michelle Bachman is a (not very accomplished) liar.

Untrue statements in RED -

Excerpt from an interview with Hannity:

Hannity: And joining me now with more on all of this are two of the organizers of today's rally, Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and Iowa Representative Steven King.

Congresswoman, it was less than a week — it was a week tomorrow that you announced on this very program that you wanted people to come. Twenty thousand plus people showed up. Were you as surprised as I was?

REP. MICHELE BACHMANN, R-MINN.: Absolutely I was. We had no idea. When I was on your show last Friday evening, that was the initial shot that was heard around the world. And people heard that, Sean.

Today people told me they heard that call out on your show on Friday night, and they immediately started contacting other people. And this was totally word of mouth. This was nothing that we organized, nothing that we planned. We didn't order one bus, one carload. Nothing. Complete word of mouth. And estimates are anywhere between 20 and 45,000 people had assembled.

Thousands Protest Health Care on Capitol Hill - Hannity - FOXNews.com

And the truth, also in RED -

Several thousand protestors marched on the Capitol yesterday in opposition to the health care bill that House Democrats hope to vote on by the end of the week. Less than two months ago, tens of thousands of so-called Tea Party protesters marched on the capital to oppose “out-of-control” government spending and the Democratic health reform plan.

Mr. Schofield said he came down with over 100 protesters from Rhode Island, on two buses that left from Warwick at midnight on Wednesday

The crowd, per Russert, is so far about 3,000 to 3,500, according to Capitol Police estimates.

*** UPDATE *** Three Capitol Hill police officers all guessed that the crowd numbered at about 4,000.

What's* Politico's source for claiming*10,000 protesters*gathered in D.C. today? | Media Matters for America

Freedom Works has launched a website called “DontKillGrandma.com” listing recommended tactics for activists to engage in while protesting health reform. For the Thursday rally, FreedomWorks says activists should engage in a “simultaneous chant of ‘Kill the Bill.’” FreedomWorks is funded by corporate money and is led by Dick Armey, the former Republican Majority Leader and until recently lobbyist from DLA Piper.

"]Americans for Prosperity (AFP) is busing people to the rally. AFP is led by astroturf lobbyist Tim Phillips and is bankrolled by gas and oil baron David Koch, America’s 9th richest person and the financier of dozens of conservative think-tanks, publications, and politicians. Like they did for the April tea parties, AFP has commissioned at least 10 buses from Maryland, New Jersey, and North Carolina to bring protesters — free of charge — to DC for the rally.

Kinda makes ya wonder what else she's willing to lie about, doesn't it?

So did the bill pass or not? If it passed clearly her vote wasn't needed.

She is doing a great service to this country by rallying opposition to this disaster of a bill. It also appears she is having a real impact Pelosi has delayed the vote to next week as support among dems crumbles.

Keep up the great work Michelle. Ignore the MSM sniping over the crowd estimate.

We just have to try to evaluate them the best we can."

She's pretty good at ignoring the truth, I don't think she'll have a problem with it.

It's not just a "tea party", some of us consider ending the squeaker's health care spending spree very important.
