I'll answer the question for you as Harry and patriotspride choose not to. Ignorance gave us religious extremism and intolerance, leading to the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, Islamic extremism and so on. The same ignorance gave us inferior rights for women, homophobia and people turning a blind eye to institutional child abuse.
Ignorance in the form of racism gave us the Nazis and 6 million dead at their hands, not to mention the millions of people who gave their lives to stop them.
It gives us failed businesses (people who don't do their research properly or bother to learn the right skills to run a business, be that through formal education or through vocational training), mass unemployment (lack of basic literacy skills, for example) leading to greater welfare dependency, higher taxes, higher levels of crime and increased premiums for businesses and home owners, the Dark Ages, the KKK, lynching, black people sitting at the back on buses and millions of unwanted pregnancies (lack of knowledge about birth control).
Those are the things that ignorance gives us and no self-respecting conservative or liberal considers it a good thing. Only the ignorant consider it a good thing. Luckily, they don't tend to run businesses, governments and New England football teams- well, not since the dark days of Messrs Mc Pherson and Rust... .
