Default ONLY One in Four "Yoof" Good Enough for the Military

Woe is us! I knew we had many dumb, lazy, lackadaisical, and overweight youths--they can't even cinch their pants at waist level. Asking them to read a book is like asking me to dunk a basketball in a regulation hoop. Ain't gonna happen.

But even the curmudgeon in me is shocked by this: Only 1 in 4 youths good enough to enlist in the military

Are we doomed? What kind of jobs are they ultimately going to be able to perform to make a living to pay the exorbitant taxes likely needed for our unsustainable social welfare spending? Everyone can't be on welfare or receive Social Security, right?

Do we need full-day preschool starting at age two? I'm worried.

Have them play football. The direction, training, and discipline will be good for them. Just don't expect them to get past page one of the playbook.

I saw this too and I thought it was sort of creepy that the military was weighing in on a child's fitness, using their military potential as a standard.

It's not that I disagree with their assessment of kids' physical fitness and lifestyle, I just think it's a little strange that the military's invloved.

I think we're looking at eternal war or at least some state of war for a long, long time to come.
