Crops Headed for a Tough Harvest -- Seeking Alpha

Quote:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture reported recently that due to a late planting season and a cooler and wetter fall than normal, only 20% of the corn crop is out of the fields vs. an average of 58% during the years of 2004-2008.

“It’s getting scarier. The longer we go, the more mold keeps growing and the more ears fall off. Every day you wait, you lose more money,” said Larry Thorndyke, a farmer with 1,400 acres in Piper City, Illinois who usually has all of his corn in the bin by Halloween.

Effects of the Global cooling since 1998. The latest Sunspot Cycle hasn't materialized as a result we are seeing cooler temps. Add to this that because of the stupid ethanol programs and the looming cap and trade legislation to 'fix' the non existant globla warming scare food prices will increase and afftect the economy na despecially the poor who spend a greater % of their income on food.

Probably more due to Monsanto screwing something up, rather than the climate... wish the righties would pay attention to what is really going on, rather than what they want you to think what is going on... another crock from the right.

Anyways this is weather not climate..

If you get a chance google: Clarence Thomas/Monsanto/Don Ashcroft and you will see the links... pretty amazing.

Very interesting that no one can save their own seed or buy seed from anywhere else than Monsanto in the Big Agriculture.. they actually have an investigative team of 75 that watch this stuff..

But go ahead and start the Gore Bull****, it provides great comfort..

The Loons worst enemy is "mother nature" the pasty faced loons kiss trees, they slobber over "the spotted owls nest" then when Mother Nature sends down a bolt of lightning igniting 50,000 acres full of Trees and Owls Nests they run home and get under their beds and try to think of a way to blame America & Sarah Palin.

SUV's, woodstoves and The Bush family create floods that kill minority's, Phil Donahue said so.

Can someone get a memo up to Al Gore in his private jet. This might be useful information for his book tour.....

The farmer referenced the weather. The satallite measurements show the planet has cooled during the past 10 years even though man made C)@ has increased. Those are facts not the speculation of a computer model you hero algore references.

You mean the same weather that was cool and rainy for most of June when they were supposed to be out in the fields planting crops? The same weather that was warm all summer rather than blistering upper 80s and multiple peaks of 90s and 100s? The same weather that saw rainy October weekends and an early frost over the region?

All that is on record from the mouths of the farmers themselves for months stating that the harvest will be late and less than normal this year. But what would they know, they aren't climate experts like the Al Gore crowd
