This is not a big deal story really ... or an earth shattering comment for that matter. Rhode Island is an abyss right now ...but we have our very own Patrick Kennedy to cheer for ... how are we doing?
I have news for the bishop ... if God exists and if Ted went to heaven ... I am sure Ted tried to broker a deal for Patrick with God ... I guess God is pissed off.
If Obama comes to Rhode Island to fundraise for Patrick ... well ... Michelle needs to talk to him about that.
“Congressman Patrick Kennedy’s statement about the Catholic Church’s position on health care reform is irresponsible and ignorant of the facts. But the Congressman is correct in stating that “he can’t understand.” He got that part right.
As I wrote to Congressman Kennedy and other members of the Rhode Island Congressional Delegation recently, the Bishops of the United States are indeed in favor of comprehensive health care reform and have been for many years. But we are adamantly opposed to health care legislation that threatens the life of unborn children, requires taxpayers to pay for abortion, rations health care, or compromises the conscience of individuals.
Congressman Kennedy continues to be a disappointment to the Catholic Church and to the citizens of the State of Rhode Island. I believe the Congressman owes us an apology for his irresponsible comments. It is my fervent hope and prayer that he will find a way to provide more effective and morally responsible leadership for our state.”

What can you say, Patrick was "born to the breed"... not a bad politician, just as long as he stays away from the booze and drugs...
And crashing his car, lying to police(under the influence though), making up bogus excuses, accepting money from a fraud and keeping it...otherwise not a bad politician especially for a Kennedy.

Yea some stupidity, but did not wear diapers for a prostitute or try to take care of his mistresses family by giving them Gov't jobs.. none is really great, but overall most of his stuff is attributable to his addiction issues...
Personally could give a rats ass about what the bishop says, let the government try to tell the church how to run its affairs and they scream the first amendment and sep or church and state, stay the hell out of politics...

Sounds dangerously close to the old fashioned policy of public "shunning" from the pulpit.
Whatever happened to "pray for the soul of?"
Interesting how the church wanted to keep child-molesting priests out of the federal/local criminal system and treat/discipline them on their own but now the church/state separation doesn't seem quite so important to them, does it?
Seems people oughta clean their own house before airing dirty laundry which belongs to someone else.

... are you sure? I mean this is Patrick we're talking about.
No I think he is either asexual or in the closet, a gay Kennedy would not fit the image... I know some people who have done work for him, and he is an atypical been single too long person.. you know the guy who wears stuff, and then you recognize he can't have a relationship, because no woman could keep their mouth shut about that outfit...
