Default Really Stupid Sayings....with a political slant

We've all heard stupid saying before. Many of us actually use them (I do) even though we know how stupid they are. Here's a list of the one's I can't stand. Feel free to add your favorite stupid sayings....and make sure to add something political so we keep it a valid topic for this board.

"That senator wants her cake and eat it too" WTF? Who'd want a cake if you can't eat it?

"Mr president, that's life in the big city" My dad always said this. Do the Irish have sayings for everything? (they prolly stole them too)

"Save it for a rainy day" I never feel doing crap on a rainy day.

I'll think of more. If you have any of your own....FIRE AWAY.

Howie Carr did a segment on this topic yesterday. Not necessarily stupid but, annoying. There were a lot of good ones. Wants her cake and eat it too. Is more of a British expression that has been bastardized. It was Eat his cake and have it too. Another words you want to be able to eat and still have it for later. The one I hate is The exception that proves the rule. Oh well 6 of one half a dozen of another.

I didn't know Carr did this...honestly, that's wierd.

My dad had tons of sayings. One was "where'd you get your liscense, Sears Robuck?" He'd yell that out the window at people.

He'd also say "think before you do things" and then proceed to whack his head off the garage door. He still wacks his head all the time!

"some things never change"

" Every time I lose something, I always find it in the last place I look."
Why would you keep looking after you found it?

BTW- Once you eat the cake you no longer have it.

One more thing...is "irregardless" even a word?
Well, spell check recognizes it so I guess my question is...
SHOULD irregardless be a word?

Edit: Sorry I went a bit OT.

I agree...."irregardless" shouldn't be a word.

I had someone I work with tell me "amongst" wasn't a word. I had used it in a presentation I had to put together and she asked me to change it to "among".

Well, I looked it up and BINGO! I was right...it is a word. I have used that word a lot in my career. I'll often use it in a comparison like, "it's the #1 selling item amongst all non-herbal supplements"
