Security screeners at 40 major airports across the country will be trained next year to use casual conversation to flush out possible terrorists.
The Transportation Security Administration will first teach screeners what suspicious behaviors to look for in travelers. These can include nervousness, wearing a big coat in the summer or reluctance to make eye contact with law enforcement. Then, the screener will quiz passengers on their travel plans in hopes of spotting possible terrorists.
Boston Logan International Airport began a pilot program for behavior screening in 2002. Shortly after 9/11, the airport brought in an Israeli security specialist who helped train Massachusetts police in behavior screening.
The American Civil Liberties Union has warned that the screening technique could result in racial profiling.
"This is a code word for targeting brown-skinned males between ages 17 and 45 years. It's not only racial profiling, it's ethnic profiling," said Timothy Sparapani, who oversees privacy rights for the ACLU...
The ACLU has an ongoing lawsuit against Logan airport. I mean, it's not like terrorists would ever even think of using Logan as a base of operations. Nah.

There are millions of Americans who probably look like they could be of Arab descent. It's absurd to think that racial profiling could be of much help. Hopefully, we're a little more sophisticated than that and capable of sticking to the maxim, 'innocent until proven guilty.' Furthermore, lets not forget that racial profiling can easily distract law enforcement from the real criminal. That happened a few years ago, during the sniper attacks in the D.C. areas, when racial profiling directed the police to look for white snipers, when in fact the snipers were black. Lastly, let's consider that the most of people who support racial profiling I suspect are people who are very unlikely to be racially profiled, despite the fact that most serial killers are white men and the Oklahoma bombing was committed by white men.
When ever profiling is mentioned the liberals don't have much of a comeback because the 99% of the terrorists are dark skinned middle eastern looking men. They are not the blue eyed blonde christians that the liberal saps would like them to be.
Therefore the big comeback they have, they scream it from the rooftops
"TIMOTHY McVEIGH WAS WHITE NAH, NAH.
THE MUSLIM ATTACK ON THE WTC NYC 1993, DARK SKIN MUSLIM
THE USS COLE, DARK SKIN MUSLIM
MUNICH OLYMPICS, DARK SKIN MUSLIM
MARINE BARRACKS, DARK SKIN MUSLIM
BACKPACK BOMBERS IN ISRAEL DARK SKIN MUSLIM
9/11 NYC 15 DARK SKIN MUSLIMS
"Yea but Timothy McVeigh was white"
If a women reports a rape and she says the "raper" was a Red Headed Eskimo with one leg and no arms. Who are the police going to look for, maybe a "Chinese boy with two legs and green hair"
Do they stop the chinese boy because they are "Liberal Cops" and they don't want to OFFEND the Eskimo Raper.
Harry, you're missing the point. There are millions of people who look Arabic in this country. Do you really think racial profiling will work? My point in raising Timothy McVeigh was to point out the absurdity of racial profiling. There are too many people for it be so useful a tool that it outweighs the importance of individual rights.
